CTD on load

I took my laptop on a business trip with hopes of playing EUII some evenings. However, now when I load the game, it CTD's on the screen that comes up after the intro movies (you know the one with the 4 guys and the green waiting bar on the bottom).

My CD is at home. Any ideas on what is causing this or what I can do to fix it - other than reinstalling the game? It's happened every night I've tried for the last 4 days.

Try disabling the intro movies by deleting them. The bink player is a common cause for CtDs

If you dn't feel like delteing stuff rename the avi folder to something like avi_old it will have the same effect

so delete everything with an .avi in the EUII folders?

No there is a folder called "AVI" or something equivalent. It's really obvious.
