CTD on a specific date

let me start with a quote from the steam-forums. The user "decumos" describes it very well:

Okay, I have this issue since Charlemagne, actually. I play a campaign, then I bump into some random date that causes CTD, no matter how hard I try to bypass it. This time (after Way of Life came out) I started as Kiev and created Ruthenia, and now the game always crashes at 26.02.826.
I had this issue with a number of different campaigns as various nations. The Date is always different, but the outcome remains: total unplayability of a campaign. I blamed Charlemagne at first, but Way of Life fixed nothing, so... I don't know what to do.
I use no mods and have all DLCs. My OS is Ubuntu 14.04.
Can anyone suggest anything?

I'm on Ubuntu 14.04, too. And I got the very same problem! It isn't possible to finish a single campaign. Sometimes I can play 130 years, another time just 30 years. But there always will come that specific date, the game crashes back to desktop without any error notifications, that would help to unterstand the problem (started steam via console, but there's also nothing).

Hope you devs will fix it soon!

Not all crashes come from the same cause. There is one known Linux-only crash at the moment though, check if your stack trace matches the one in here
