if you play the grand campaign will the states slowly leave the union and join the confederacy or will the entire country just break away all at once?

I hope it starts in January or February 1861, after the deep South seceeds. That way a US player who plays perfectly would have the chance to keep Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina in the Union, while a CS player who plays perfectly would have a chance at the above plus Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri leaving with the full support of their populations (i.e., not governments-in-exile as Missouri and Kentucky had).
For example, the US player would have to weigh the benefits of the call for volunteers versus the impact on public opinion in the upper South. The Southern player would have to weigh the benefits of establishing a strong forward defensive line in "neutral" Kentucky against the reaction of Kentuckians to the "invasion." (If I play the CSA, I'm going to USE the line if I go through the trouble of establishing it, unlike AS Johnston). And before that, each side would have to tread carefully around Ft. Sumter.
There isn't any law against the viewing of it anywhere like the Swastika, so I really doubt it.Originally posted by KwangTiger
Though Paradox might not allow the Stars and Bars, but who knows how politically correct they are.![]()

Well, it ain't gotta be the Dixie battle flag. We all would be proud to display the Stainless Banner or the Stars and Bars instead. There was also a 3rd CSA national flag that was issued, actually a modification of the Stainless Banner, which would be quite acceptable. I would personally prefer one of the national flags. While the battle flag is the one most folks believe to be the CSA national flag, this just was not the case, as I'm quite sure most of you already know.![]()

You can start as CSA in one of the scenarios...

"Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."Originally posted by RELee
And it weren't no insurrection! Weren't no Civil War neither. 'Twere the 2nd American Revolution! It's all in how you approach it.
Just my 2 cents worth.![]()
