I was curious if anyone knew how CK determines who gets what provience when you're on crusade. I was on crusade, and some proviences got added to my demesne, but on others a new county was created automatically with someone (it appears from my court) as the new ruler. It was particularly frustrating after I managed to land near Tunis, hold out, take the provence, but the computer installed a Finnish pagan as Chief of the Tribe of Tunis. After taking up the cross to fight pagans, a pagan was put in charge...

The province goes to the highest ranking leader in the sieging army.
Edit: Now if he's a good boy he'll naturally give it back to you if you ask him. ;)

to get the province for your demesne you need to take it with army which your kin lead. For any other army, the leader will become the count of this demesne.

If you have nobody but "Anonymous Commanders" in your army, you also get the province into your demense. This is what I make sieging armies out of, while all my actual leaders with regiments go hunt enemies, the anonymous guys besiege behind the lines.
