Hello,

I have come asking this question because in my most recent campaign, playing as a paulican, I have declared myself the paulican patriarch. Now, when I got the patriarch I declared a crusade on Georgia and successfully won. That being said the crusade CB is now no longer available for me. When I holy war the holy war CB is always there, even when I can't use it, telling me why but with the crusades CB there is no real feedback for the player.

Now at the time of my first crusade I was still a heresy. A little while after that I called a conclave and was declared an official offshoot schism of apostolic faith, thus making me a legitimate, and no longer heresy, faith. I thought maybe crusades were a once in a lifetime deal, so I waited until the death of my character which then passed the kingdom and patriarch title on to my successor, who is a lunatic.

I still see no option for a crusade CB in my declare war screen, only holy wars. Also, before anyone says to go look in the CB file, I already have an I appear to meet all the conditions set in the code. Though the code for crusades are very complicated and I may have missed something.

So, What are the conditions a person can declare a holy war? or at least have it appear in the war screen?

I think that Crusades have a cooldown of 30 years, and that there's no indication of this in-game. This was the case at least a couple of HIP versions ago, and as far as I know it has not been changed.

I don't believe that has changed and it's a feature I like, though it would be nice if there was a timer flag somewhere, or if the CB stayed visible but was grayed out with the tooltip indicating the cooldown, or something. On the other hand, one can always just go through the title history of the last targeted kingdom to see when the last crusade was. A little cumbersome, but reliable. *shrug*

Oh thank you for that, I can now continue my game. Yer, I feel like that they should, at least in the ui, function like the holy war cb. The holy war cb is always there but greys out if oyu have the holy war cooldown, for example. This would give the player so much more feedback when the case ofp alyers being able to call crusades is a possibility. Which is especially more likely with the recent updates to religions for this mod.
