Just a quick note to say THANK YOU to MichaelM.

I made the changes and now I have HUGE competition in colonising! Myself, England, France and Poland are all hurriedly expanding in India and I reckon my North and South American holdings are going to face fierce rivalry soon.

Its given my game a much needed boost since I only really had Germany as a rival power, now these other nations are expanding in places where I dont have the power to stop them.

Plus its kind of fun to see the Polish get their place in the sun!

King of Men has done the Superior Converter (check over on the CK forums for how to use it and what it does) or there's the in-game one, as already described. The in-game converter will make things weird... you may well get things like no capital, Granada being renamed the Seljuks and so on. The worst part is that every AI nation uses default AI, so nobody will colonise. To get around this, I wrote some events that change people's AIs early in the game. The Superior Converter doesn't have this problem: it assigns AI files to countries as appropriate - however, it has its own weaknesses because it tries to keep the monarchs as they were in CK. After the current kings all die off, however, it creates random ones (some of which have illegally high attributes). This converter will therefore give you an EU2 game with no leaders and no historical events and because it tries to create as many tags as possible, you may be disappointed at the size of the empire you thought you'd created when it gets assigned to lots of vassals.

But can it be used in with the Victoria converter? Is there anyway to get te historical events, leaders, and kings back? Will the AI be able to colonize well with no explorers or conquistidors?

In theory you could, but the random monarchs would all have to be cut and the proper ones pasted over them, which would be a lot of work.

I don't think so since there as so many fewer tags in Victoria.

Eep

So just to make sure I understand, we have the default converter that does not update the AI files, and is likely to do weird things like give you the wrong cultures etc.

OR King of Men's, which I had read was much better at that, but will instead replace your monarch file with what CK thought was going on, and not tack on the historical events/leaders?

:(

I know that since EU2 uses so many tags, you probably see your CK empire somewhat dissolve ... fair enough. Do the 'released' tags start as your vassals, or completely independent?
