Guess since the next patch will be out with this new DLC I'll be putting CKII away for the next two weeks. Its currently unplayable for me in 1.07b with France and HRE blobbing everything in site and lowborns flooding all the courts.

Except this is not really 'instead of' anything - almost everything in it is going to be used in EUIV.

It is. A dev team has to concentrate on things, and the paradoxian dev team is not that big. If Doomdark & co. is busy making an Aztec DLC, we have to wait for the next patch. I think this is an "instead". Work is work. You lose time.

Well, don't have CKII and this DLC isn't much of a reason to buy it, if they added the americas on the otherhand... but then again, why the americas and not asia?
Nevertheless, at least they try to be creative and I love the irony of "the opposite scenario" where a meso-american nation invades europe and brings desease with them... not historically fathomable by a long shot, but its nice they're trying to be creative :)

Me too... How about creating a poll?

What? A poll asking people just why they are so butt-hurt over a minor DLC that cost practically nothing, uses work done for EUIV so takes time away from nothing, and looks just straight awesome to boot? What's wrong with you?

It is. A dev team has to concentrate on things, and the paradoxian dev team is not that big. If Doomdark & co. is busy making an Aztec DLC, we have to wait for the next patch. I think this is an "instead". Work is work. You lose time.

Except that this work is just a spin-off of something else, and work done to support it will save on work done to support the same features in EUIV. No net time is lost

Come on man, you're the guy who updated the Vinland mod for DW. Surely you can appreciate a bit of silliness.

Which should give you a hint that anyone who gives half a shit about historicity isn't just a horrible stick-in-the-mud out to ruin everyone's day. My modding work is littered with references and eastereggs too. The difference is that it's modding work. We're often making silly stuff for people so inclined (even if the mere existence of Vinland is just alt-History). It's fine for it to be in the main game too, it just shouldn't be so.. blatant. Like I said, I wasn't saying the event itself shouldn't be there, but what does it detract from leaving open the possibility that it's some Chinese sage traveling along the silk road, or maybe even some civilization even closer? It's unnecessary to restrict it to the least plausible option.

Seriously, all you people going on about how anyone who dislikes this needs to "lighten up" and, quote, how they're "laughing at the butthurt retards".. yeah, we're the immature ones without a sense of humour. Obviously. It couldn't possibly be that we just don't need a lecture on how we should find the things you find funny just as funny.

I'm not even that shocked about this development. The addition of fantasy Empires deadened the surprise for me, I suppose. I just hope that the Pagan DLC doesn't end up as some Conanesque nonsense.

I don't buy this for 5 seconds. Mesoamerica has always been totally wrong in the EU games, mostly because the Mesoamerican civilizations haven't been the focus of the game (which is Europe). The same will be true with EU IV. So, the they are so going to make the Aztecs important in EU IV argument is just dumb. The EU game format that is very good at portraying European nations, just isn't that good at portraying the non- European nations. Thus they won't be important in EU IV, and we should just be happy some of them are in the game and playable.

It's not April yet, is it? This sounds like the worst DLC of all time. :)

Contender to horse armor.

You're comparing a dlc with unique events, a new civilization, new art, and more to a purely cosmetic addition to a single-player game?

~Whatever dude.~

Non sequiteurs ahoy! Let's take a look at what's reusable:

1) Many of the events
2) The disease-spreading feature
3) The tech-adoption feature
4) The characters and graphics
5) Details of religion and politics

Basically the whole damn thing.

Nah. Asking people if they like being invaded both by Fatimids and Aztecs simultaneously.

Like they say, even if you buy the DLC, you can turn it off if you don't want to face double rainbows . . . I mean invasions.
