+1. That is exactly how I feel as a GG customer.
I have Steam too, due to other games I like being only available with it. But I don't like their policy, their monopoly; I want to have freedom as a paying customer to use the game as I like, instead of being baby-sitted by Steam and having to be extra careful not to allow automatic updates, never buy an expansion somewhere else, doing extra fuss to copy out of Steam repository or no mod works, and similar amenities. I don't want MP, don't chat, don't need spam about other Steam games, may easily do without achievements (what are they good for, anyway?).

I am waiting to see how this issue with the promised Steam keys will be solved. The moment I will receive them for CK2 + all the DLCs I have (everything but the "customizer" and SOA) I will make my opinion if it is worth to continue as a buyer of Paradox games.

I can pretty much give a -1 to this I guess since it's the exact opposite for me, I want to go from GG to Steam.

Who are you to criticize others who only want respect for their rights? your opinion is different, fine. But that's all.
You show what you are, if you think others who don't have your own opinion should be bashed, or worse.

Hey no need to get excited. I don't think he was denying the validity of your opinion, just using your quote as a starting point to state his own. Non aligning preferences need not conflict.

With when it is the Steam version, will updates/DLCs still be announced in the 'feed' on the Launcher?
As theyre not with EUIV and im not sure whether thats an EUIV/CK2 thing or a Steam thing

I said that I was off the opposite opinion so I negated the opinion, how is that not -1? Which would result in one person for and one person against which equals 0 opinions.

EDIT: Sorry if it sounded like something else.

Well, that should have been the correct thing, state his own opinion, and not making a conflict. But he used my one to disagree, like if it was wrong.
What is wrong: my own feelings? my own rights? my judgement of what I need or not from Steam? I'm talking about myself, others have their own view and that is perfectly fine.

Can't say I'm happy about this at all. I hope it's worth it for you - submitting to Steam monopoly is a bit sad, but if (IF) you can make multiplayer easier and better I can hardly complain.

"Malware, short for malicious software, is software used to disrupt computer operation, gather sensitive information, or gain access to private computer systems."

Sorry - you can like Steam, you can dislike Steam (and both are legitimate positions), but "malware" is a different thing altogether. Steam doesn't disrupt computer operation, doesn't gather sensitive information, doesn't offer access to private computer systems. Sensationalism robs your posts of any and all credibility: if you want to argue, do it without falling back to overblown definitions and outright incorrect terms.

Sorry if this has been asked before but assuming no future DLC will come to GamersGate does that mean the current ones will be taken off? The reason I ask is I mainly use my blue coins to buy up the cheaper DLCs so if they are getting taken off soon I may as well use up all the blue coins I have before then.

So in other words, it's Steam's insistence on having their own way of doing things, and "fixing" something that isn't broken, that creates the difficulty in having a non-Steam version available.

This isn't a matter of Steam wanting something. Paradox released EUIV on Steam because they wanted streamlined updating and a functional multiplayer. They realised how useful Steam is, so now they're converting CKII over. You should just appreciate that you're getting your content carried over to Steam and stop acting like such an entitled baby.

Steam offers a good multiplayer, Paradox's multiplayer fell over or something a while back [going off comments in these threads, as someone who only plays singleplayer I don't keep up with the multi-affairs.]
So Paradox is going Steam as a to fix multiplayer without having to make a whole new and inferior to steam's system.

It's not because Steam is best or some backhanded deal, but as the OP says, technical difficulties and multiplayer

Troll much?

He wasn't terribly polite about it, but his core point is sound; Steam's system of updates is objectively better for the developer, as the developer only needs to create a properly functioning build of the game, and Steam handles the process of converting the old version to the new version. Previously, it was possible for the patcher to introduce errors of its own, complicating the process; this isn't an issue with Steam's method of updating your game, reducing the number of things the developer needs to worry about, and eliminating a source of problems from consideration when something does break. It also simplifies error reporting by almost certainly ensuring that everyone is using a common version (the latest), as you have to go through a conscious effort to use an older version.

Steam isn't forcing developers to use a unique system; it's a system that developers actively prefer, and greatly desire access to.

That could all be true, but it's not what I was responding to with my comment.

Astounding this thread has carried on for 33 pages fuelled mostly KristopherWG's profilic posting, with nothing significant stated beyond the first. Most of the volume is made up of posts attacking people for not jumping on the bandwagon. If half a dozen people are spamming me with ad hom attacks and the entire cookbook of logical fallacies, I'm going to respond to all half dozen of them as I see fit.
