I have a quick claim question. My wife is unlanded on her own merits, but has at present 2 strong claims (can be inherited by successor) - 1 each on the duchy of Poitou and Aquitaine. When she dies, will the claims pass down to all her kids or just a couple of them? Furthermore will they be weak claims or not? My aim is to gain control of both duchies.

I'm using Ultimogeniture succession, and have 4 children. 1 daughter (first born), then 3 sons.

Weak claims unless the kids are 1st 2nd or 3rd in line to the land. They'll all get one I think.

Ugh... Thanks! The other thing: if I simply press the claims on her behalf, she'll become Duchess of those duchies right? Then surely the kids will inherit both the duchies (Aquitaine + Poitou) as well as my duchy right?

Shell get the duchies but they'll be whatever they were gavlekind I imagine so you might need to get rid of some kids. Also get betrothals so she doesn't die and you're son marries a lowborn 50 years old.

How can I send a child to be educated when there is always the "base reluctance -"?
It wasn't there a few patches ago, few patches ago they could convert the child in your court as well.

Why is your child's education trait sometimes not their tutors?

Sent my son to a charismatic negotiator and he ended up the level 2 intrigue one.
Well, if the wiki is to be believed, there is a <10% chance that the child gets a random education trait. LINK

Okay that clears up issues about the dynasty and playing the daughter but I'm still a little confused about the next step in play so... Hypothetically, a Norse chieftain under Agnatic Gavelkind succession laws only has daughters. He does as you suggest and arranges matrilineal marriages for all of them. He ends up with one or more male grandchildren before he tragically takes an axe to the face.

Does the game identify those grand children as the successor or successors? Does the game split the titles up among all the children Gavelkind style or does the inheritance only track through the children of the eldest daughter?

And thanks, I didn't even know there was a character search tool... now it is the first thing I will search for when I start my next game.

If you have Agnatic Gavelkind then no daughters don't count in the succession at all even if the daughter would have a son of your dynasty. Agnatic means that the heir has to be from a male line there can't be a female there in anywhere. So in agnatic your daughters never will inherite and their sons will be ignored. You have to be Agnatic-Cognative to daughters to be able to inherite anything.

Need advice on what I should do, i am kind of a noob in this game. Started at earliest start and I have conquered some land, currently playing as cool Ragnarr Lothbrok and I have the title of King of Sweden. I have 4 sons and, as you can see in screenshot, lots of the land will be partitioned if my main character dies.

Can i create an empire maybe, would that stop land partition? I don't see an option to create Scandinavia and custom empire is quite expensive. Should i create kingdoms of Denmark and Norway? Should i just let the land be partitioned between my sons? Currently i have laws: Min centralization and High tribal organization. How should i setup these?

I could use some general guidelines, how to play this character, what to do with religion and feudalism?
ps- i play only with these two expansions in my profile.
Thx

Look at your succession laws - it's probably Gavelkind of some sort. Not sure if you'll be allowed to change it though.

What are the odds of losing incapable?

I own 4 kingdoms a custom one Bavaria lothragia and Hungary. I gained incapable and all I can do is drool on myself not announce I'm an emperor.

I don't think you can ever lose the incapable trait at all. My genius character got kicked in the head by a horse once in an event and became incapable. I just started playing him and then the scumbag lived on forever lol*

There are not many ways to remove incapable. Actually, only three ways, and two are very specific (the first in origin of your "incapable" and the other in that you must be the DEMON SPAWN).

There are these for if you are made incapable by a regent's intrigue but they only work if that's how it started:
Code:
character_event = {
    id = 61152
    desc = EVTDESC61152
    picture = GFX_evt_emissary

    trigger = {
        any_courtier = {
            has_minor_title = title_regent
            NOT = { has_character_flag = declared_ruler_insane }
        }
        has_character_flag = imprisoned_by_regent
    }

    mean_time_to_happen = {
        days = 1
    }

    option = {
        name = EVTOPTA61152
        remove_trait = incapable
        remove_character_modifier = house_arrest
        clr_character_flag = imprisoned_by_regent
        any_courtier = {
            limit = { has_character_flag = declared_ruler_insane }
            clr_character_flag = declared_ruler_insane
        }
    }
    option = {
        name = EVTOPTB61152
        tooltip_info = lunatic
        trigger = { trait = lunatic }
        remove_trait = incapable
        remove_character_modifier = house_arrest
        clr_character_flag = imprisoned_by_regent
        any_courtier = {
            limit = { has_character_flag = declared_ruler_insane }
            clr_character_flag = declared_ruler_insane
        }
    }
}
Code:
#Regency: Ruler informed Regent failed to steal throne.
character_event = {
    id = 61160
    desc = EVTDESC61160
    picture = GFX_evt_recovery

    is_triggered_only = yes

    option = {
        name = EVTOPTA61160
        remove_trait = incapable
        remove_character_modifier = house_arrest
        clr_character_flag = imprisoned_by_regent
    }
}

There's also this one to wake up as a lunatic, but it's very rare and still requires you to be on the younger side...
Code:
