I pressed my wife's strong claim for a 2-province petty kingdom. She ended up with both counties and the petty kingdom. Next thing I new, the previous ruler got it all back via "Faction Demand". How can that be if she had no vassals of count or above.
This is interesting, I actually don't know. There are only two possibilities:
  1. Barons can join factions (perhaps impossible)
  2. She granted a county to someone who joined a faction (strange)

As a norse britannian emperor I conquered norwegian infidel lands and appointed norse courtiers to rule the new lands in 1250+. They turn norwegian in days. Is there any way to prevent this? Shouldn't the norse-to-norwegian/danish/sweden events be restricted to a specific time frame? Say, from 950 to 1100 or something like that. I find it quite frustrating because it's my understanding that it would be easier to convert Scandinavia to my own culture if my kingdom wasn't norse, which is nonsense; it should be the opposite.

Is there any simple way to make people not lead battles when they are not in your council? Because i often find me or my heir leading a battle when i cant die now because it would make everything collapse, or my heir is really good and/or is my only child. And then they lead a battle, if i then choose another character for the flank they are leading, they for some reason sometimes just start leading a subunit of that flank, or a different flank.
I have also tried assigning them to a small splitoff army sitting and waiting in a safe place, but even that doesnt work, because for some reason they just travel back and start leading the army again right when a battle starts.
This caused me to become maimed and die at the "young" age of 54, and sometimes even younger. When i know i could have done a lot with that character still.
And i really dont wish to have the heir to Brittany/Hungary who i managed to matri-marry when he was 4th in line to die because of this.

Yeah but that doesnt seem to work, they just go and start leading the other army right before the battle again, and if i ever disband the unit then they also just start leading an army again, why is there not just a button to say that you dont want these people to lead battle's.

It would be more convenient, yes, but as a "quick answer" to your question -- there isn't a button. Either unassign them manually (don't just promote someone else, unassign your king) or assign them manually to a "safe" army. Those are your options.

Also, they don't "travel back" to lead another army. If you are seeing this, it is either a bug or you are misunderstanding something that you are doing. Occasionally, I have noticed a bug where moving leaders around can keep "phantom" leaders assigned to an army they aren't supposed to be in. That's the only bug I've seen with it though.

Select your army while its moving or not leading a siege, click on the name under their portrait (there should be 3, 1 for each flank), click resign.

No, not really. Holy Wars are supposed to destroy the title in question, not transfer it.

Unreformed Pagans also cannot Holy War, so you'll probably need a different explanation altogether.

I am Leofwine Godwinessunu, King of England. I am also the Duke of Essex, East Anglia, Kent and Deheubarth. I control all the counties in Essex and Kent, one in East Anglia and none in Deheubarth. I want to grant land to a relative to reduce the demesne and duchy penalties, and to perhaps groom them to become future kings of England. If I grant Kent to someone, will they keep the counties for themselves or grant them out like idiots? Or should I grant East Anglia away? And what about Deheubarth?

P.S. I used to be Gyrth of East Anglia, later of England, but William assassinated me. o_O

You should keep Essex and Kent as you control it all, and 2 duchies doesnt come with an opinion penalty, but you should grant East Anglia to someone together with your county there, and Deheubarth to one of the counts in that duchy.

You should keep Essex and Kent as you control it all, and 2 duchies doesnt come with an opinion penalty, but you should grant East Anglia to someone together with your county there, and Deheubarth to one of the counts in that duchy.
I also have the issue of holding land over my demesne limit. Playing CK2+, btw, so there are more counties than normally. Don't really want to grant Deheubarth to anyone, as all the local earls are Welsh.

You could always revoke a county there and grant it to someone of your culture and then give him the duchy.
And if you only have demense limit for one duchy + counties with maybe only 1 or 2 extra limit, then grant your secondary duchy to someone aswell, but build castles in your primary if you have demense limit.

I remember now - it was a Great Holy War for Germany. Do vassals transfer with those? Would just like to know how the pagan duke of Brunswick came to have 6 vassals in Bavaria and Istria.

If I holy war Brunswick what happens to those vassals?

So they are reformed pagans that hold them?

Vassals will become independent if he loses his last Ducal title, but until that time, he will stay lord over them, even if he loses other land.

A holy war clears out all heathen vassals in the target land, Great Holy War as well, so that still doesn't explain it. Some variant of Lord_P's explanation probably comes in to play:
