I have retake much of Anatolia from the Sultanate and have been able to form the "Kingdom of Rum" which replaced the pre-Turk invasion kingdoms, can I reform the original kingdoms somehow? I am playing the HIP mod so I am not sure if this is vanilla.

A few questions regarding Seljuk. I murdered Seljuk after he got 2 kingdoms. His only young son inherited the throne. I noticed his event troop is still around, about 60k!
Will the event troop disband if I murdered his only son?
Can his son declare any wars as a minor? Or does he have to wait till he turns 16? If he can't start wars until he turns of age, I guess I should wait.
If I declare holy war on his Muslim neighbor, is it possible for him to join them on the defensive end?

Event troops only vanish when they are destroyed or disbanded. So no murdering the son will not help. He can declare wars normally being minor doesn't prevent it and joining wars is totally possible.

Yes, all other state attributes definitely still have effects. State diplomacy gives monthly prestige and opinion bonus with non-courtiers, state learning gives monthly piety, state stewardship affects demesne income, state intrigue determines success chance of imprisonments and assassinations (and maybe other things like plot power/plot discovery chance, I'm not sure, intrigue works somewhat obscurely).
But state martial is a mystery, every martial-related mechanic I know uses personal martial rather than state.

Thanks for the feedback. :)
Currently play EU3 for weeks now (i was a bit miffed about the buggy state Ck2 is in; i still love CK2 though) and i'm not sure about CK2 mechanics anymore.

Thanks for the reply. There seems to be a prestige requirement for invasion, but that's not going to stop him for long.. Guess have to kiss his arse for now.

Does the AI have retinues? If not, why?

Also, if I die, for the game to continue, can the heir be someoneelse from my dynasty? Like, can I play as my brother, uncle or another relative(even a kinsman) if he is a dynasty member? I never tried continuing without a son....so I have never seen what happens if I die without a son..

As long as the heir is someone from your dynasty the game will not end. Otherwise elective for example would not work.

Low CA, so it should be possible. I did not mention it before, but the same is true for seizing cities or counties.

Seize trade post : can't against HRE republics, can against independant republics
Seize cities : can't against HRE vassals, can against independant rulers

I would check in the 00_cb_types.txt if I were at home, but maybe it is because you can only DoW independant ruler/republics ? Maybe, as a republic, you can't expand within your liege's realm ? Anyone have any experience to confirm (or not) this ?

PS: I know it looks a lot like a CA issue, but I'm 100% sure the CA is low. At one point, it was autonomous vassals.
I looked into 00_cb_types.txt. Both CB require that you d'ont have the same liege :
Code:
	can_use = { ROOT = { NOT = { same_realm = FROM } } }

It seems that Republics are meant to expand outside their liege's realm... And not even plots can change that :(

But children of my children and their children will inherit that claim right? So it's almost entire dynasty.. No way to prevent that?

After a few generations, the claims will become uninheritable.

You'll keep playing as the heir to your primary title, provided he is a member of your dynasty. If your primary title is inherited outside your dynasty, you lose.

2. It gets applied to holdings in provinces that were never besieged or even approached by an enemy army.
Recently conquered has nothing to do with being besieged, its to do with how long it takes to enforce order and recognition of the new overlord. If anything a province that never saw an enemy army might take longer to recognise the new lords authority.

That's not exactly right is it? EG as Patrician of Venice your primary title is that, but if you lose that you continue playing with your House or lower county titles you owned.

Furthermore if you lose a feudal election on your primary title its not Game Over is it? I thought you continued with your lower title (eg a Duchy instead of Kingdom/Empire).

I disagree. The "New Administration" penalty I view as doing what you put in the quoted post. I view "Recently Conquered" as being the result of the actual physical damage resulting from armies looting, burning, pillaging as they move through the area.

Two different penalties, poor application.

This may be a stupid question, but what is the best way to find spouses?
I'm currently using the spouse finder, sorting by rank, and then browsing through to find the best options, but I've heard this isn't the best way. What other methods are better when planning for expansion?

No there's a very different looted penalty that applies to looted provinces. The point of having both New Admin AND Recently Conquered is there's a transition (since they have different durations). So a brand newly conquered province is almost utterly useless as the new rulers have no real control yet. Then depending upon religion etc there's a second period where the province is semi-useful but not yet upto full potential. Only after a long period of stability is it fully efficient.

I'm currently using the spouse finder, sorting by rank, and then browsing through to find the best options, but I've heard this isn't the best way. What other methods are better when planning for expansion?

I almost never worry about the prestige penalty, unless its my very first character in the dynasty and his ability to overcome negative prestige is dire. I also generally avoid the spouse finder unless I really want to just marry off the character and be done with it.

In the character finder you can always type in traits - "genius," "strong," "attractive." You can start getting to the point where you have people who are multi-generational geniuses and breed them with regularity into your main line. You can also use the character finder to find people to invite to your court, and therefor force a matrilineal marriage.

Planning for expansion? What title are you targetting? There's two ways to go, either check the immediate heirs, and see if any of them or their spouses might be invite-able. You can kill off the spouse and marry the heir, and get rid of any children who might be in the way.

The other way is to look at the list of claimants , and invite any which may be marriage material to your court. If they've got a title claim that will be inherited, and the title is below your current level, let it be inherited by the child who is one of your kin, then press the claim so that they become a vassal automatically. Once they're in your court they can't say no to a matrilineal marriage, either.

Otherwise, I generally avoid the spouse finder - way too few options.
