YesDid the newer versions delete the 75 coins merc?
Apart from modding and/or console use, no, there's no way to do that.
Still, something like that happens next to never, so savour the moment, you'll probably never witness Byzantium on their own beating the Mongols again.
What are the prerequisites for a plot to fabricate a claim on a king or empire title?
Hmm.. i'm not on my computer right now but i couldn't do it until my next ruler so i'm fucked, thanks anyway![]()
You can't. You can only fabricate a claim on a county, or duchy if you are lucky and your chancellor has 15+ diplomacy skill.
In order to force someone to be your vassal you must first be high enough rank to have them as vassal (I understood from your post, that you only became duke after taking Kildare). As a count you can never under any circumstances have other count (or higher rank) vassals.
Secondly, if you are pressing a regular claim (your own or someone else's) as you were with your fabricated one, you are explicitly attacking to take the land, meaning that the former owner loses it. For him to become your vassal, you would have to press a de jure claim (and be high enough rank to have him). Note that when you press a regular claim against someone and win, all of their former vassals become the claimants vassals.
Regarding the marriage, rulers in CK2 are often wary of entering unions that can put themselves at risk. When they list "political concerns" as a reason not to give you their daughters, it can be because they don't want to give you claims on their land though them, or simply because they don't want to be your ally, because they want to attack you. When they list "wants better alliance", they want to ally with someone more powerful or someone they believe is in a position to help them. Also, if the daughter is a pretender or heir to a title they will attempt to get a matrilineal marriage.
Thanks for the response. Clearly couldn't make him a vassal then because the claim was fake, and it was impossible to get de jure on a 2-province duchy holding only one of them.
On the marriages, I think I understand, but what can you do to get around it? Finding it hard to find any way to get new counties without having the chancellor fabricate.
Didn't realise they could be rejecting because they want to attack, will have to watch those carefully too.
Are factions broken? In my game as King of Navarra,Galicia,Castille and Aragon I had a faction against me that had 88% strength. I was wondering why they weren't pressing their candidates claim on my titles. Maybe I just got lucky?
Can you convert from Catholic to Orthodox?
I think they still work... you were probably lucky. How long did it maintain that strength?
You can convert to ANYTHING, it's just not necessarily trivial. Did you mean by decision? If you mean by decision, then you can convert Catholic->Orthodox IF one of these holds:
- The religion of your liege is Orthodox and you are not Zealous
- Catholic is a heresy of Orthodox, you are independent, and you are not Zealous (this will be true only if the Schism has been mended)
- You have RoI, your capital is Orthodox, you have a lot of piety, and you are either independent or not of the same religion as your liege.
There are also events that can convert you, like debates with courtiers and the like. And, of course, you can set up your heir to have a chance to be educated to any religion regardless of the rest of what you have going on.

What's the best way to maximise your income as far as vassals vs desemene holdings go?
Probably around 6 months to a year. Not sure though.
