If I am a vasssal Republic in a Kingdom (e.g. Amalfi under Italy or Venice under the Byzantine Empire), at Medium CA or lower, can I use my coastal CB against cities or counties of the other vassals under the Kingdom/Empire?

At medium or higher CA you cannot start internal wars unless it is a plot, so no.

I want to institute some crown laws in one of my kingdoms, but everyone is opposed to the change. How can I convince them to accept Medium Crown Authority?
Make them like you. Gifts, honorary titles, land titles, fulfilling of ambitions, jobs in the council, chancellor mission...

Question: Is the bogomilist heresy as feminist as the cathars? I've read otherwise, i.e. that they can't use female commanders or councillors, but checking 00_religions.txt it looks like they have exactly the same parameters. (feminist = yes and female_temple_holders = yes). I don't want to live in an empire where women are not allowed to the same positions of power as men, so I need to know.

Edit: Found out by myself through the ruler designer... It seems this feature has been removed from the cathars as well?? What a shame. How am I now going to create a truly equal empire? Any ideas?

I believe the Cathars are still feminist, no? You can always load up a test game and try to appoint a female councillor.

Can you change character names in-game? I have the customization DLC.

Bogomilists allow for female temple holders, at least.

As for the rest, I am playing a Cathar Ireland currently, and unless something changed in the last 48h, they clearly can have female land/temple holders, absolut-cognatic succession, and female generals.

Here's a quick random one:

I'm playing a dutch culture lord for the first time. Is the dutch unique retinue unit any good? (It looks bad to me... but what do I know?) And what retinue mix should I maintain?

I decided to unite the two empires of my dynasty, so my heir is betrothed to the heir of the Byzantine Empire. However, despite the marriage type being the same as the betrothal type (matrilineal), the Byzantine emperor refuses to marry them because the "marriage type does not match betrothal". Is this a bug, or is he just making excuses?

EDIT: Nevermind, he proposed it himself.

I cannot seem to appoint a new Ecclesiarch as a patrician in a republic. I have members in the court that should be eligible, but do not show up when I click appoint, no one is selectable. Any idea what I can do?

I could appoint members for the rest of the council, but not this one. I am not the Doge of the republic.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why does the following happen?

I have the following:
Kingdom of Ireland (all de jure lands under my/vassal control)
Kingdom of Scotland (all de jure lands under my/vassal control)
Kingdom of Wales (all de jure lands under my/vassal control)
Kingdom of Aquitaine (all de jure lands under my/vassal control)
Kingdom of West Francia (all de jure lands under my/vassal control)
Kingdom of Lothingaria (all de jure lands under my/vassal control)

I inherited East Francia, all all lands flipped to Francia by name. Any reason why? The titles still show, but just annoying as hell.

As you use that term of the court bishop I quess that you are orthodox. You can't have any other characters as the orthodox court bishop than landed bishopric owners so if you don't have one of those you will not have a court bishop.

I suppose your heir was the king of East Francia before your character died. In that case, he kept his first title as primary when he inherited.

However, since you now play him.... simply click on your preferred title and then click on the blue button saying "make primary". Your problems should vanish then.

I do not understand why the world is hostile to me. It doesn't say anything when I pull my mouse over those icons. What is happening and is it a bug?

This is the wrong screen for looking at that. simply click on your capital, then mouse over those icons. There should be information regarding why then.
They're probably at war with your war target as well.

That is pretty obvious. But no, I don't have any of those hostile icons there. Truces are both where you said and on the screenshot and hostile icons are absent in the capital screen. I have checked literally everything and there is no connection between me and other realms who are hostile to me. HRE keeps its retinue next to my border but doesn't cross it. This is the second ironman playthrough I am having such situation.

I'm sorry, many people that stop here have just started the game and usually simply don't know details like those.

It's probably a bug, then. Actually, while it has never happened to me, I've heard about a similar bug not long ago. You have already tried reloading, haven't you?
