Still no brittania however I have married the duchess of berry. Killed both my first born and her first born so the heir inherited my titles and her titles. Will marry out now and try to inherit a few more titles. I broke west francia also...burgundy now owns most of it.

Is there anything worthwhile I can do to significantly destabilize the HRE? I'm playing my first game of CK2 (and this is my first post to the CK2 forum). I've allied with the HRE for now to discourage them from attacking me, but I'm starting to get really concerned that they're growing huge and cutting off my avenues for expansion.

Get you heir to marry an heir of theirs...whether a duchy or whatever. My Ireland game I've expanded by marriage to get most of East francia and aquitaine.

It's circumstantial, really. You'll have to weight pros and cons at each point.

2 notes, however:
1) You can usually help lady luck in tipping an inheritance your way, with good enough intrigue stats.
2) Even if you can't realistically expect in inherit a title, you might be interested in simply inheriting a claim to it, or even simply in the alliance that comes with the marriage.

depends. how strong are you, do you already have good cognetical traits, who are available for marrigae in terms of heirs. a emperor marrying to inherit a small duchy is a waste. going to inherit the byzantines is pretty much always worth it.

basicly, if no marrigaes that'd have quite an impact on your strenght(i.e. inherit scotland as england, but not inherit finland as the emperor of hispania and francia) are availble and you dont need the alliance, marry for stats.

through marriage my simple ireland game, I stand to inherit all of East Francia. I killed off all male heirs in East Francia and married the female heir, I also killed off her children and mine, and sired a new son, who stands to inherit the following:

Kingdom of Ireland
Kingdom of Scotland
Kingdom of Wales
Kingdom of East Francia
Petty Kingdom of Cornwall
Duchy of Somerset
Duchy of Gloucester

Nearly all of it was done via marriage, the exception being 2 provinces in Ireland (Duchy of Connaught)

Try to bribe them? Alternatively, if he's unmarried, marry a zealous woman of a different religion than his liege to him, then reinvite her. He will come along.

Double Titled King?

Is it possible to have a King with "The Great" and "The Holy" titles together? I've nearly fulfilled both Paragon of Virtue and Exhalted among men requirements (need only 10 piety for Paragon of Virtue and 100 Prestige for Exhalted among men). Is it feasible to have a leader with both?

There is a certain chance. There's a better one if he doesn't like his current ruler that much, and that's where the so-called "wife-hook" comes in.

It doesn't have to be a member of your family, by the way - a random courtier should do, as long as the guy is willing to marry her.

@ Nephilim: Double titles don't exist outside of mods, as far as I know.
