I meant the second part of your comment. Can I make another mechant republic into my vassal if I myself already hold a step higher merchant republic.

You could take their land or their title or even vassalize the title, but there is no such thing as a merchant republic in vassalage to a merchant republic. If you vassalize them and they don't become a regular city vassal of whatever level they are (they should), then I wouldn't be surprised if you saw buggy behavior.

I've recently found that the leader of Knights Hospitalier (hope I didn't misspell it :) ), who is my vassal, has a huge amount of money (something like 140k). Is it possible to return this money into the place it should belong - my coffers?
I've tried to imprison him, but there were no option to banish him. So had to let him go for some funny amount of money - 140 golds or something...
My empire needs more cities :)

Is the arbitrary trait inherited or taught? My rulers keep on getting arbitrary when they turn sixteen, and it is getting annoying.
How long does it take for culture conversation? Dublin for me is still Norse (albeit it is shaded) after more than 100 years, but northern Scotland went full on Irish (from norse) less than fifty years after conquest, same when I conquered Thunguria and Baden (German and Frankish now. Lost em a while back).
As the Irish Queen of Ireland, I married a Mande Prince of Mali. How come two of the kids use the African picture pack, but the third kid portrait looks like it is from the Turkish picture pack?
Also, to answer a question, the grant title list is alphabetical. Since I just got into the game, I can't tell you if it is patch or not.

The game has no way of modelling biracial people so it always makes them Turkish (I guess sort of the right skin tone...?), completely black or completely white in my experience

Why does Holmgardr have those event troops? Just curious.
To increase the survival chance of Holmgardr/Novgorod. In earlier patches Rurik often got gangraped by Finnics and Slavs around him.

My question:

Recently I decided to play my old 2.0.4 savegame and something interesting happened... I gave my underage daughter to be educated by her elder half-sister, a mastermind theologian. And the education trait she received on 16th birthday was... indulgent wastrel, the lowest stewardship education level! I reloaded couple of times, at first she became naive appeaser (lowest diplomacy level) and then indulgent wastrel again. The guardian had no problem giving good theological education to other children.

Was it a weird bug or part of the game? Did that happen because my daughter had "cynical" trait and wasn't interested in learning religious matters? If yes, then what other traits can sabotage education?

I don't know about traits that influence education, but just having a highly skilled steward is no guarantee of a high-level trait on adulthood. Increases changes, yes, but no guarantees.

Its totally part of the game there is a small chance that the character gets random education trait as not even in real life people become what their tutors might want them to.

I know that guardian's education level doesn't guarantee the same for the ward, but it usually is from the same education branch. What surprised me was that a guardian with the highest learning based education trait (white) gave the ward the lowest stewardship and diplomacy educations (yellow and blue).

Its totally part of the game there is a small chance that the character gets random education trait as not even in real life people become what their tutors might want them to.
Yeah, well, I guess my daughter was going through an especially active teenage rebel phase. I am just glad she didn't decide to get some piercings or tattoos and didn't get knocked up by some lowborn punk.

The wiki has a really good table to explain the probabilities. It's pretty intuitive, though -- higher level guardian increases likelihood of high level ward, low does the opposite, and all tend towards the trait of their guardian (though it is not assured). Thanks a lot, Tom! I have read that Wiki article, but somehow missed the "Random other" part.
But still... How to explain it happening three times in a row (I reloaded twice as I mentioned earlier)? Very damn awfully crappy luck?

Well, I don't know about "very damn" but yeah, just a rough patch of luck =)

Just in case, make sure somehow his guardian isn't getting unassigned somehow because that makes it completely random.

Playing the Mongols (trying for Khan of Khans, it was going very well until ~1260, so far I have taken all of the Persian empire except Mesopotamia, Cumania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Bohemia ("sniped" from a HRRevolt), Croatia, Poland, Pomerania and Denmark (Denmark owned a duchy in Pom and I had just finished taking Poland, so...), recently won Germany along with most of Frisia and Lotharingia in my first war with HRE), the pope declared a crusade for Hungary when I was already completely overstretched fighting a very messy war against the HRE (was planning to annex them in one go so the work would pay off, peaced out for half their lands because the situation in Hungary was becoming dire) and various revolts in Persia and eastern Europe. Suddenly, I find Hungary flooded with at least 50k of those bastards, a Catholic uprising sieging my capital (I moved it up to Skane as that was the only completely coastal duchy I had with more than just 2 or 3 counties other than some crappy black sea ones and low tech... So anyway, this prevents me from spending my gold on mercs or Lords of the Sky to save the day as they would spawn in battle with 0 morale), Liberation revolts in Hungary (irrelevant, the uprising was a problem at first because everything I had was tied up by the HRE, swarming Catholics are far worse by now) and Cumania (12k in the middle of nowhere) I have no answer for. Khan is 70 with regular health and will probably die any second. My event troops that I had preserved so carefully for over 40 years are wiped out, my levies depleted (HRE sniped and butchered most of them with an Organizer while their other stack was keeping my retinue busy, most of what I had left got destroyed by high numbers (my actual Hungarian and Balkan levies quickly got overwhelmed when suddenly the 10k invaders had become 20 when I wasn't looking... yeah, I wasn't quite playing fully concentrated anymore) or overpowered Holy Orders (my 10k levies from Poland got attacked by 9k Teutons and were destroyed while the TO lost 1k at most) at equal numbers in Hungary while my retinue was still on the way), my remaining levies (now from northern Persia and eastern Cumania as all else is already dead - these levies were dealing with some nasty rebels (somehow half of Persia being Tengri by now doesn't seem to help much with those revolts, I still get them all the time) during the HRE war, but didn't suffer quite as much) and retinue are currently losing a battle against half the Catholic army (I tried to seperately attack a 10k army with my entire stack - unfortunately, that 10k was mostly the TO and they held out for far longer than they should have, mass reinforcements from 2-3 provinces away arrived and my precious HAs that had previously killed the HRE's masses at lesser numbers whenever they actually reached them after that damn Organizer had already killed everyone else in what was supposed to be a protected carpet siege of their eastern lands suddenly were losing...)
Is surrender an option so I can save my retinue (20k HAs, maybe half remaining), sort out my rebel and upcoming succession (my heir is a 20 Dip genius with lots of virtues and all of my vassals are Mongol/Tengri or at least Something/Tengri, but with hundreds of vassals and in such a weak state...) or will losing Hungary (geographically the heart of my empire, and my primary title even is a renamed Carpathia as that was the first non-tribal empire title I was able to form) to the annoying TO tear my realm apart beyond repair?

Also, was it foolish to attack the HRE before clearing out my backyard from Byzantines, Rum, that mess in southern Greece, the not quite as scary muslim blobs? After killing some of their armies (those armies replenished very quickly) in raids and while hostile in the Bohemia war with my at that time smaller retinue, I thought I could take them directly - which I could, but not without becoming scarily unstable and getting butchered by some random crusade from the other Catholics.
... or was cutting my greatest rival in half worth probably losing an importantly-located and actually already quite well retengrified kingdom?

E: Nevermind. I surrendered, stabilized, invaded new Hungary (the land was given to a claimant rather than the TO) as I didn't even have a truce, nobody helped them, done. By the time someone can call another crusade, they won't be able to stop me anymore. Khan is in his mid-70s and recently became posessed, wonder if I can actually do another major war with him if he continues to live like this.
