I guess it's possible that if you were able to get him married to a lustful woman and then have a lustful man in your court, there's a chance that they could procreate... and in some cases, perhaps the child could be mistaken for yours (in reality, it doesn't make sense for a eunuch to make that mistake, but I'm not sure the in-game event checks that -- maybe someone else knows?)...

Actually this is doable as it happened to me in my last session - but she was not only Lustful but also Hedonist so +40% fertility. She had a child not mine fairly quickly and I legitimized it. Ah, but Eunuchs can't marry...

Greets!
How can I get rid of Heretic Stronghold debuff? I have one in a county for like 150 years now with no expiration date in the tooltip (unlike some other cases). My chaplains could not do anything for decades and the heretics just keep rising up once a year. The province religion is Catholic the barons and the count are also chatolic. I ran out of ideas. Its keeps being annoying as my retuines are far away on the frontline and the regional levies are very tedious to gather every single time (once a year).
Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Do holy orders work on different branches of religion? Say could the Catholic Knights Templar attack the orthodox Byzantines? (It says heretics and infidels but i was always unsure about the grey area and I need the Templars to boot the Byzies out of Sicily for my Serene Doge of Venice.)

To eXistenZ2: The best way would be to border muslims and holy war the crap out of them, for even more piety give land to church vassals. Otherwise, pick the religious branch that gives more piety, try to become humble and zealous, maybe even chaste if you have enough kids. Lastly you should obviously always take "give me piety" options from events.

EDIT To Baglas: it should of simply went away after around 5 years or so. Are you willing to become whatever heresy that was in the province? Because that might work. Otherwise go to the main menu and reload and see if that fixes it.

You can't if it's the bug in an earlier version, which i suspect it is. Which patch do you play ?

1. There should still be the window. If you have the beta patches it looks different, but it's still there.

2. It's a known bug.

1. I don't use the patches and when I start CK2, the window doesn't appear anymore, it just starts.

2. Paradox creating more bugs with every patch in CK2 and not fixing the age-long errors, makes sense.

Do certain conditions need to be met to be able to select your heir with Indian characters? I've read that there is supposed to be an icon by the character's portrait but there is no such icon for me. I've searched but haven't found anything on special requirements..

My current situation: I'm a Tamil Hindu, independent duke tier, one adult son with others yet to come of age. I'm still on gavelkind currently. I have another older save as well where I formed a kingdom with a different character in India and had switched to primogeniture and have the same problem. I haven't seen any options in the diplo tab or anything either. Oh, and on 2.1.4 on both saves. Am I missing something here?

2.4.1 (ZQSJ)
No RoI DLC
Steam version.

Did you start the game in an earlier version than 2.1.3 ? Then you have to start a new game.
As far as i know the bug i refered to was fixed in 2.1.3, but doesnt get fixed retroactively in a save file.

Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with vassal Merchant Princes who hate me no matter what I do, can't stop forming factions against me and think they're kings? (I am talking about Genoa here)

Ignore them, as when they start factions they verey rarely become dangerous in my experience and you should have rival republics in your realm.
Then they will focus on plotting/fighting each other....and obviously keep your demesne troops ways from getting slaughtered/diminished, as large numbers in demesne troops reduce success chance of factions and thus firing.

I believe that for some reason it's not available for Hindus, only Buddhists and Jains. I could be wrong though, but try using the console to switch to one of those religions and see if you can designate your heir.

I.. do not remember, I think I started it when the Rajas DLC was released and the old saved games were incompatible. Thats 2.1.0 maybe.
I have found no evidence in the patch notes regarding Heretic strongholds. Nevertheless I believe you but in this case I have to abide this "bug" because there is no way I would start a new game (again) after 50 hours of gameplay in this one. I'll just finish this.
Thank you for you help attention.

So my awesome cool and just plain lucky daughter gets a matrilineal marriage to the Emperor of Byzantiums Grandson. Everything is looking good and I'm looking forward to ruling as my own grandchild one day when one of my cousins cuckolds me with my wife and she gives birth to a nogood 'son' of mine that stands to inherit everything I have worked so hard to acquire... the obvious question: How do I get rid of him?

There is no plot for assasinating your own children, afaik, so you have to use the assasination option on the diplomacy screen. It will probably cost 350gold per attemt with a low chance of succes (20-40%) and a high chance to be revealed as the murder (40-60%) So it will probably get you a kinslayer along with the dishonourable modifiers (which will get +10 with every unsuccesful and revealed attempt).
You could also try to get free investiture and appoint him as a successor of a bishop. That should rule him out of succesion. I'm not 100% sure tho if you can do this without another male child. That is if you are a chatolic nation.

Not sure, might have been this:
- Fixed a bug with temporary revolt titles and certain achievements.

The temporary modifier stuck and didn't go away anymore. Sadly it wasn't easy to fix by modding a save file, as far as i remember.
In other words, there's no easy way i know to fix it.

Patch notes are sadly not only not complete, but quite often unclear.

My poor poor Demetrios... all those Knives coming after you out of their own volition.

so 2k gold and 250 per attempt... wish me luck for the byzantine throne

I'm playing a catholic emperor (Brittania) an invited a man who had a claim on a duchy to my court. I gave him a county and made him king of Nubia wich is a title with no land since all that territory drifted into an other kingdom. So I pressed his claim, won and installed him as my vassal duke.
So far so good, but now I want to retract that king title, but the only option I have is to retract his duke title. He does show with a golden circle around his portrait and with the kingdom symbol on the map. He is still clearly a king (of nothing euh.. Nubia).
He already lost the county I gave him to start with, he's catholic.

Why can't I retract that king title?

edit: typo.

My poor poor Demetrios... all those Knives coming after you out of their own volition.

so 2k gold and 250 per attempt... wish me luck for the byzantine throne
That is why I do not like Ironman mode. The game should have a slider where you can adjust how much money you want to invest in the attempt and the more you do the higher the chance of succes will be. The Intrigue skill would give a modifier ofc and play a major role in "attempt revealed" chance.
I wish you luck.

Why can't I retract that king tittle?
I'm just guessing here but maybe you get a "10 year truce" for the titles you give away so, you have to have a special reason to revoke it? Revoke the duchy title first and see if the revoke title options is greyed out or no after that. (if you are not in iron man)

Just curious, do you mean revoke? Because if not, then you may be selecting the wrong option. You need to select 'revoke title' and not 'retract vassalage' or whatever the thing says. Other than that I'm not sure. When you say that your only option is to retract his duke title, do you mean that both titles appear but you can only select the Duke title or that the Duke title is the only title that even appears as an option?
