I cannot raise the Immortals. At first I thought it was because they were unlanded, so I granted them a barony. I still cannot raise them. I have enough piety and gold coming out the butt.

However, the Immortals have a strange history in my realm. I set them up as an independent state in the Indus valley region as a buffer to India for them to go crazy with holy wars. The situation didn't work out, and all their castles in my realm prevented me from becoming the Saoshyant, so I expelled them. Eventually I vassalized them again and revoked all their lands to replace them with proper feudal vassals.


My only theory for this is that I took the "Expel the Immortals" decision. Though I have a vague memory of calling upon them after taking it. Plus this was over a hundred years ago.

Any ideas?

Recently had my spymaster successfully force a fellow vassal into a faction, except... he didn't join. The event said he did, but he wasn't among the faction members. What could have caused this?

How do I deal with the norse invasion in 867 as a count in England?

Any tips? That kind of throws a wrench in any plans I have to play in that area but I don't really understand the invasion mechanic. How long do they keep that huge stack of troops?

How do I deal with the norse invasion in 867 as a count in England?

There are many ways to deal with the Norse in England (all situation based), but they all deal with one fact. True, the huge stack of Norse troops costs nothing to maintain BUT the stack never reinforces. Attrition and casualties will use up their stack eventually.

Most likely your liege doing exactly the same thing, but in reverse, that is, using his spymaster to force the same vassal out. One has to trump the other.

I've got a single County that I am currently title to. It has a Castle and a Town right from the start, and a single slot where I can build an additional holding. Is there any reason why I should build a Temple holding in that slot and not another Castle or Town?

If I create a Kingdom as a Merchant Republic (Duchy) do I become a Merchant Republic (Kingdom)? Also, what happens to the succession laws of this Kingdom? If I win a claim against a Kingdom that's Elective (like Italy) what happens to the Republic?

Actually, it's probably a bug. Other people have been reporting the same thing and have confirmed that the noble never actually joins the faction.

As it should be. The liege's action to "scheme" the vassals out of the faction trumps the vassal's action to "scheme" fellow vassals in, and lasts for a certain amount of time. Probably because they work on multiplicative factors, one of which is an egregiously big number and the other is zero, although as far as I can tell this bit is hardcoded. If a vassal is schemed in and out and the same time, he will stay out.

If he would join the faction instead, I'd have a question to answer along the lines of "I used my spymaster to kick a vassal out of the faction, but he just joins again!" It can't work both ways.

As it should be. The liege's action to "scheme" the vassals out of the faction trumps the vassal's action to "scheme" fellow vassals in, and lasts for a certain amount of time. Probably because they work on multiplicative factors, one of which is an egregiously big number and the other is zero, although as far as I can tell this bit is hardcoded. If a vassal is schemed in and out and the same time, he will stay out.

The liege cannot ask a vassal to not associate with factions, giving the -10 Discourage From Factionalism modifier, if the vassal is not in a faction. Since the vassal is never joining the faction when agreeing to, the vassal's liege cannot "trump" this because the vassal never joined a faction.

Yes, but if the liege asks a vassal in a faction to leave, and he submits, he will be unable to join any faction for a while, even if another vassal uses the spymaster to force him in.

Question: Is there a way to have mercenaries arrive somewhere else then at your capitol? As I am playing England my capitol is more often then not nowhere near the action.

Especially if you own distant lands, it would be worthwile to actually decide where you want to dispatch mercs too.

Especially if you own distant lands, it would be worthwile to actually decide where you want to dispatch mercs too.
The only way I know to do this is to move the capital, raise the mercs, then use the free capital move you get to move back to your top title's dejure capital. This typically only works once per character lifetime, and is only useful if you don't mind the capital ending up at the dejure location of your top title.
