If I recruit a retinue of Longbowmen, and later on improve a building in my capital which gives +15% attack for archers, will it affect my already existing retinues?
No, the buildings only affect troops raised from that holding, nothing else.

Despite their same/similar names, cultural levies are NOT the same as cultural retinues and have little to do with each other. The cultural levy buildings provide incremental stat bonus to ONLY the cultural levy unit from THAT particular castle holding. On the other hand, cultural retinues (or even generic retinues) always start out with maximum stat bonus. The only thing that can buff all units globally is Technology. If I recruit a retinue of Longbowmen, and later on improve a building in my capital which gives +15% attack for archers, will it affect my already existing retinues?

So, I attacked the pope as Byzantine Empire because I wanted to mend the schism but when I enforced demands he still held on to 2 baronies but he himself doesn't hold any land so I can't attack him and so I can't mend the schism or form the empire. I'm playing vanilla 2.1.4.
Were you doge? Fleet comes from building upgrades in your holdings and the holdings of your vassals. One example could be if you lost the election, vassals go away, and if your personal holdings have no shipyards, you would have no ships.Patrician in Venice here... For some reason, my fleet levies are listed at 0/0/0. Is this a bug? Where did all my ships go? They existed before, but now I am unable to raise anything.

It's 973, and I recently lost Dogedom. My palace is pretty upgraded though. I have Grand Palace (level 4) and at least level 1 in every other possible palace upgrade. In my palace detail screen, the galleys are grayed out. If I hover over that icon, it says this:
Galleys: 31
-Palace: +25
-Map Room I: +6
Final Galleys: 0
That is indeed the case. I am count of Domazlice, a landlocked county in de jure Bohemia. So if that is my capital, why would it negate the existing ships I have in my palace holding in Venice?
Hi, just started playing republics and have a few questions. I´ll split them into 2 piles of closely related questions.
1) What should I do to lower my expenses on men at court - where can I put them? Is it possible to put them somewhere when I have no holdings at all (except for my house)? Is it worthy to have them at court for trade stations (at least in long term)?
2) What determines how much money will I get from a trade station? It seems I have bigger profit when I have more stations in the same area - is that true? (it seems they are helping each other). Do I need to have my trade station in the same naval area as capital to get 40% bonus, or is it enough to connect my capital with other stations (a) via conquering counites b) via building trade stations and get chain from them). Thanks a lot.
First game here. Playing as the former Count, now Duke of Pecs. My first wife died, but gave me a girl. I have the current ambition of gaining a son, but while my current wife loves me(+50), I don't love her(-2). How far does familial relations go to producing an heir? Is there anyway I can increase my love for her, except perhaps wait for an event? Also, was there any point in trying increase technology back when I was a count?
