If I'm Norse culture/religion and hold a county in France but convert to Catholicism but remain Norse culture will I still get Norman melting pot event? Also what year does the event usually trigger or is it random? If anyone also knows the event number to trigger it could they post it?

Thanks

Yes; Any time before 1150; TOG.2003.

The event is completely independent of religion and can happen any time before 1150. You also need to be independent or under a Norse liege (so if you're, say, the King of France's vassal the event won't fire unless the King of France also happens to be a Norseman).

So in a bit of experimenting as I am not that experienced in this game yet. I managed to win the first crusade as England and got the kingdom of jerusalem. Since I was not planning on playing both over such a gigantous lenght. (and both kingdoms were elective for some reason? o.o ) upon my rulers death I am now playing as the my nephew the strong new king of england. and my youngest son got the kingdom of jeruzamlem. However I now have 2 issues:

I landed my youngest son to soon so he had to select his own bride, ofcourse as a proud crusading holy warrior catholic he choose a: lowborn shia girl. First thing is hoping she converts instead of he but in any case, are there any negative modifers towards getting children between different religion characters? If she does not produce an heir thats liked among the jeruzalites soonish my former eldest son wil inherit the kingdom... he is duke of Cornwall and stands to inherit Normandy from his mother. Perhaps my aunt and then he should meet an early grave... in that case they wont elect his infant son most likely.

secondly. I wanted to create a merchant republic but used an existing mayor. now chelsea is a vassal to the kingdom of jerusalem. Any idea on how to get that back? :p

So, I need to press a claim to gain a county ASAP. I didn't have any lands and I invited said person in my court and landed him in one of the castles of my personal demence (I revoked the title without tyrant because the vassal was a heretic).

So now that said person got his county, is it of any serious consequence NOT to revoke his barony from my demence? What are if any the complications of him holding it, I really don't want to go the tyranny route.

1)Is having a 8 desmen when your max is 6 a big deal ? (for the vassals)

In the short term, it's no biggie. In the long term it's something you're best off avoiding.

2)For a large Empire, is this a good idea to settle a Medium Crown authority ? Will this prevent vassals from revolting ?

Medium CA is a good idea. It doesn't prevent vassals from revolting, but it does prevent them from declaring claim and de jure wars on each other, meaning that your vassals stay a sensible size. Unlike High CA, it doesn't give them the opportunity to convert to Primogeniture and thereby inherit large chunks of land through marriages and children.

I'd say that Medium CA, unless you have a burning desire to implement Primogeniture, is the best CA.

1) It gets you an opinion malus, though I can't remember if it's -20 or -30. But I'm pretty sure it's one of those.
2) Nothing will ever prevent vassals from revolting; that would completely get rid of one of the major parts of the game. No, all it does is make it so they can't declare war on each other (not counting internal revolts and plots).

As a side question, what are the benefits of vassalizing the Templars ? (the ungrateful bastadards immediately started to conspire against me)

It costs much less piety to hire them, and you don't have to pay any meaningful upkeep when you have them raised. Also, no-one else can raise them.

Still looking for help here :(

1. Never land the first and second in line of succession. Always keep in court.
2. Who is going to inherit England? It's not clear. Who is going to inherit Jerusalem? Your youngest son? And why do you care about Jerusalem? They will fall to the Arabs who will declare war within the next 5-10 years and probably take it back (eventually they probably will).
3. Go Primo if you don't like Elective. Safer choice if not very experienced.
4. Declare war for Chelsea.

Regarding the child, it will get his father's culture/religion BUT if, for example, you marry your heir to someone who is landed and of different culture/religion, children will be born in their court and they get to choose their guardian (usually someone of their culture/religion) meaning that the child will most likely change culture and/or religion.

I'm playing the Byzantine Empire currently, and my cousin (same dynasty) will inherit the kingdoms of Rus and Ruthenia, among other titles. I know that pressing a dynasty member's claim in a war will make them a vassal, but am I right in assuming that this cousin will not become a vassal of mine if I let him inherit naturally? He is an unlanded member of my court at the moment.

If he won't become a vassal naturally, is there anything I can do to make that happen? He doesn't have a claim to the kingdoms, so I can't do this through war. Would giving him a county or duchy (don't have any spare kingdoms) work?

Make sure he has a good number of heirs of your religion and culture before he inherits because, no, he won't become your vassal. BUT when he dies, his children will have claims and if they're your religion and culture AND dynasty, they might come over to your court and let you press their claims

I'm sure when I last checked it was -10 per holding over the limit.

Religion interface -> College of Cardinals button (has a picture of the Pope's hat on it, and is quite big)

Yes.

No, he'll just keep the duchy and inherit the kingdoms, and the kingdoms will stay independent, so the duchy will pass out of your realm. Giving him a kingdom would work, though.

Does your cousin have a younger brother? He'd get a claim on the kingdoms when the king/queen dies, and assuming it isn't Gavelkind, won't get any titles. You could press his claim, though you'd only be able to do it for one of the kingdoms, and would presumably become your vassal thanks to being of your dynasty.

Last question, I'm an Emperor, and I have a vassal who managed to get his grubby hands on two other kingdoms. What would be the best way to separate those kingdoms from him ?

Last question, I'm an Emperor, and I have a vassal who managed to get his grubby hands on two other kingdoms. What would be the best way to separate those kingdoms from him ?

Ick. Unless they happen to be in gavelkind (or elective), you have to revoke. Either get a claim and revoke one or, as an old and extraordinarily well-liked ruler, revoke one and eat the tyranny penalty, ideally with said king in jail already for plotting or some such.
