My third son Earl Bran of Gwent is an Earl in my kingdom and I married him to the Duchess of Mercia in England. They had a son who is an Ua Briain like myself. However, the message popped up that when Prince Bran dies. Gwent will pass from my kingdom. How does this work? Can I prevent it by making my son a Duke as well?

It works because when you get a higher title it takes precedence and determines your state as vassal/independent and who your liege is. If you make your son a duke it will come down to who dies and makes the grandson a duke first.

How is Primogeniture or Ultimogeniture affected by the Indian religious effect of selecting your heir?

Let's say you've got three sons under Primo, the first gets all, under Ultimo the last gets all, but how is this changed if you set your second son to be your heir in any case?

Is he still affected by the -20 relations penalty? What about the eldest under Ultimo (after being selected as the heir), does he get the -30 anyway?

And as a final oddity, has anyone tested the effect of being able to select the heir with an Indian religion with Tanistry from a Celtic culture?

OK, those two can't be combined at least... Too bad :p

Hey, a question.

What decides if imperial laws(if you're an empire) applies in a kingdom or not? I'd love to get an answer. :)

Maybe a silly question, but do Orthodox and Muslim states send missionaries?

I am playing as Denmark and the only missionaries that come are Catholic, I guess that's because I border Catholic areas.

Yeah, they do. Play Mali some time and you're bombarded with Islamic missionaries. And Russia tends to get the Orthodox missionaries

It's not for me. It seems to stay permanently even after the Jews are expelled.

Bug.

No way to incite them to send any that I know of, but you always have the option to go raiding for concubines.

You say that, but as(italian minor turned bysantine due to them being broken by muslims and me being at the center of the crusades back for it) (catholic) bysantium, after the crusade for jerusalem that happened, when i got the kingdom of jerusalem, that place too had the "Bysantine crown laws apply here", whilst places like croatia, serbia, etc. don't get this. Why?

Thanks! Yes, I am aware but I just wanted to see the effect of having different people at the realm converting to different religions to see how much they would try to convince me to convert to their religions.

Is there ANY way to further speed up autosaves, except place CK2 on a SSD? I already did that and the autosaves still take an annoying 2-3 seconds. Not a big problem in and of itself but with the boring early game and the need for very high game speeds to get anywhere it feels like the game is saving more than actually running.

Is there a way for me to tinker with foreign elections?

Playing the duke of York, I married my daughter matrilineally to the 2nd prince of Sweden. I killed his brother, and when his dad died he took the throne. Before Sweden was a primogeniture, but now I checked and it's elective. >_> My grandson isn't my son-in-laws heir.

Is there a way I can get him nominated or do I have to just keep killing the competition? My Intrigue is kinda low and no one wants to join the plots.

As an outsider there isn't much you can do. Electors tend to vote for themselves or the king's candidate if they like the king a lot. Since you want the king's presumed candidate to win sowing dissent won't help and you can't help the king's relations with them. If you can swing things so you are a nominee then you can boost relations to get them to vote for you as well.

Thanks. How would I go about making myself (or maybe my own heir) a nominee?

Edit: Well I just killed his heir. Now If I can just kill my son-in-law my grandson will take the throne!

Am I missing something or norse armies just don't keep up with the catholics?

Newbie here, started off with Ivar and as great holy wars finally unlocked, Odin called for western france to be added to the realm, thus expanding a continental foothold comprised of Brittany and Frisia. After a lot of maneuvering, it came down to a very favourable showdown of 19k norsemen against 7k assorted defender plus 3k men from some holy order that popped up. Except it was not at all favourable: my army was shred to pieces before my disbelieving eyes. The cries of panic and disbelief could be heard in Valhalla that day, I'm sure.

What gives? I'm suspecting "heavy cavalry" is just a codename, and the horse icon is just meant to fool me and make me think they're real, live animals, instead of tracked, armored fighting vehicles with large caliber main guns... I see no other explanation for that debacle.

Is there any way to counter them before RPGs or landmines are invented?

Terrain modifiers aren't insubstantial in the game, also general stats and special bonuses. A 3k troop holy order is altogether likely to have 3 15+ wing commanders with good abilities, if you cross a river to attack them, especially if they are in hills or worse I can easily see that happening. Tech is also a thing although not as big as terrain and generals.

So when I first started playing ck2 (a couple weeks ago), I remember being able to see "potential plot power" on plots that I was considering. However, I can't find anywhere something that tells me the potential plot power of a plot I'm interested in. The only way for me to figure it out is to start the plot and then manually add up the plot power of every willing plotter. Is there something I'm missing? Did a patch introduce a bug?
