Hello,

I started playing CK2 again these days (I've never played that much, only a small hundred hours of playtime) and I tried playing as a small Norse count in 769, and I actually started pretty well, managing to quickly control whole Scandinavia (except Finland) and reform religion by 800, but then I have issues because my demesne is too big and that I own too many duchy titles.
So I wanted to grant land to get rid of demesne issue and give away some of my titles, to prevent opinion malus. But then it says council is opposed to this decision.

So I have to choose, either I have opinion malus because I own too many land/titles, either I have opinion malus because I ignore council. So everyone hates my guts and I spend my whole playtime chasing plots, but it's pointless as everyone ahtes me becauise of malus, when I kill one, another one immediately comes to join plot against me as well.

I retried the game twice, and twice I had the exact same issue at same point. What am I doing wrong and how to circumvent this issue ?

Thanks in advance !
Are you trying to grant land to unlanded characters or council members? They generally don't mind if you try to do that, but will object to you giving more land to people when the councillors are unlanded or if the councillors dislike the characters getting the land.

I try giving land to my councilors, hoping they'll like me more and stop contesting all my choices, but when I try to do that, only the one who'll get the land vote yes, the 5 others vote no.

Edit : and when I try to give land to other random people, not councilors, the 6 vote no.

They're all malcontents, or giving favors to a malcontent? Can you reassign people on the council until at least half of them are not malcontent?

Yes they are, but like everyone has at least -70 opinion of me about too many land/titles owned, so whoever I put in charge they still hate me. But it's okay, I think it's unsovlable, so I started the game again, hoping to pay more attention before it becomes unplayable.
Thanks for your answer

In that situation you should still have the dreaded button to, 'ask help managing my titles." Under no other circumstances would I recommend using that button.

The prince-bishop of Durham has just created the titular title Durham, which means his title is now "of the Durham" and when you over over his name it just says "prince-bishop in". Is this normal?
Yes, it's a bug - in vanilla the duchy of Durham (which is for the prince-bishops) has a short name set for it, so it looks weird. I've fixed this.

To deter raiding adventurers (there were like 8 in my territory at once) I settled a nomad adventurer in a county I had just captured with county conquest and then demanded that he convert before unpausing. He agreed and then was immediately replaced by a female theocrat as count. She has my culture and religion even though I don't think I installed her and that's not the county culture or the adventurer's culture. His event troops vanished and other adventurers are still raiding me. What the heck happened? I am reformed Bon.

That's a problem which happens when any temple holder changes religion at the moment. I think it's to sort out female temple holders, but doesn't work properly. Your only work around is to never demand a religious conversion from someone who holds a temple holding. Either wait for him to give away the temple to someone else, or give it to someone else yourself before you transfer the county. Preferably someone of your own religion should get the temple so it doesn't start flipping around if/when the adventurer demands a conversion or revokes the title.

Thanks, that makes sense. Two follow ups:

1. Can I assume that raiding resumes if a settled adventurer gets deposed?

2. If I change to a secret cult religion, convert monastic feudal or iqta title holders who hold temples, and then publicly embrace, will they all get deposed? Will I? Who replaces holders deposed in this manner? Where do they go?

Can formerly titular kingdoms be crusade/GHW targets if land has de jure drifted into them? I know there was at one point a special rule for de jure Jerusalem. If so, are they targets at weight 0 or some other weight? Similarly can formerly de jure kingdoms be crusade targets if they are now titular but held by infidels?

I'm not familiar with settled adventurer mechanics.
2. If I change to a secret cult religion, convert monastic feudal or iqta title holders who hold temples, and then publicly embrace, will they all get deposed? Will I? Who replaces holders deposed in this manner? Where do they go?

Their titles get granted to a randomly generated character of the new religion, which I believe is always male. Also, when using the 'create new vassal' button on temples, if that character happens to be female, they always spawn as an identical character with the same name who will get a feudal government type and cause 'wrong holding penalties' on their temple.

Titular titles will have no GHW weights, so the AI will not call them against that target until no other options that do have weights are still valid targets. A player can call or request a GHW against them no problem or request that the target be changed to them in the case of crusades.

EDIT: Small mistake on here and part of my reply got eaten. Fixed now.

There are a few duchies and counties that have individual crusade weight. I have always assumed (without justification) that the crusade weight will be properly transferred if de jure drift occurs.

  • Europa Universalis IV: El Dorado
So, I was playing an Iroman Hellenic Roman Conquest, and I'm three counties away from being able to fire the decision. However, when my last character died, the title of Pontifex Maximus went to the wrong heir because of Imperial Elective.

So I checked the title's inheritance, and I there I was, last on the (visible) line of succession. I proceed to then plot and kill every last person (since I cannot revoke it nor usurp it) until the inheritance falls to me. Except, when I'm next in line and the kid holding it died, it randomly jumped to the Duke of Palmyra, a guy NOT of my dynasty nor related to me in any way.

HELP! What do I do to get it back? This is driving me crazy

How exactly Princely elective candidates qualify?

Basically all my sons qualify, and all grandsons are excluded. I have 5 duke or king grandsons, and some of them even hold elector titles.

Does it have anything to do with the grandson issue? It is not mentioned in the ingame description or wiki.

I took my time educating the most promising kids but most of them can't be nominated. Please find attached.

The first debugging step for all succession issues is to save, exit and reload. (This forces the game to recalculate succession order & eligibility.) Have you tried that?

Other than that, I can't see any obvious problems from your screenshot. All of the characters in your screenshot should be eligible, since they are de jure dukes/kings of the HRE.
