Is there any way I can find out the total army an enemy state has? The one on ledger shows only the leader's Demesne army I think?

I think it's the total unless the liege is tribal, and then it only shows his/her demesne. I think you have to go through all the vassals to see how big the army will be.

Is there any way I can find out the total army an enemy state has? The one on ledger shows only the leader's Demesne army I think?

The ledger is everything the leader can raise himself, so his demesne and all vassals that provide levy. In the case of tribal vassals you have to look a their armies instead. (a mix of feudal and tribal vassals may exist)

Never seen that, unless you refer to commanders not in charge of a flank or not only, but of a specific single unit.
In other words, don't have your flank leaders be leaders of single units (unappoint and reappoint flank leaders) and they won't shuffle.

Q: War Elephant (Steel Bow) retinue or Pikemen (Defence) retinue?
Pikes are overall very cost effective for what they are.

War elephants, however are amazing, as long as you can get their tactics to fire, but that requires a LOT of elephants.

Really? It does that to me all the time. For example, I like the commander with direct leader in center even if he has lower martial than the other. But if I create new unit or split it in half, the main troop will get the commanders positions shuffled. It will still be those 3 commanders, but the direct leader would now be in the flank. I do use sub commanders though, and that might be the problem. Feel safer with them in an evenly matched battles... but I'll take them off and see if it fix the problem (though that's just silly as that makes sub-commander feature useless)

What happened to an army when they're destroyed in an island? I'm playing Venice and when an enemy invaded and they were beaten, there's usually a lot of survivor still. Do they go back to the enemies levies, or they're completely gone?

(sorry Knotz, I know your question not answered yet. I'm not sure about the answer, but I'm guessing it's a result of focus decision)

If there's nowhere to retreat to (like in the case of Venice) they get stack wiped.

2. Where is my "The Yes Men" achievement?

I play as an emperor, I decrease the importance of the council to a minimum, they can not vote over anything, and instead of two advisors plus five members, I only have five loyalist - is that the reason? Other Achievements work, of course.

So why was the rotate camera removed from the game before release? It would be an awesome feature and it seems like they had already done the work

I thought it was removed to reduce lag?

I'm playing Bavandid Zoroastrian king under Abbasid Empire. My culture is the default one: Persian. My question is: should I adopt Beduin culture for better retinues (Camel riders)? Will changing culture prevent me from acquiring unique zoroastrianthings later? I'm asking this because from what I have read on the internet, LC+HA which is the Persian retinue sucks really and that Camels are much better.
