It's possible that your character is sleeping around with people who aren't modeled in game (see young women getting pregnant with no father, maidservant/bodyguard lovers, etc.).

I also think that if you're Chaste the chance to get Great Pox (and Lovers' Pox) goes way down.

It's also possible for it to be genetic. So even if your character isn't having off-screen extramarital sex, you or your spouse could secretly be carriers if it was in the family.

Another q: I was recently gifted Charlemagne and Rajas and something weird is happening. I'm getting popups that one of my kin (I think they have always been children of my char) are being targeted for assassination but nothing shows up in plots, and I don't have the paranoid trait. I get the option to place the child in hiding but the only way I can tell they are safe is if I take them out of hiding and I don't get a prompt to put them back in hiding. What's going on? Can you ever find out who was behind the attempt, or was it never real to begin with?

Rumours can be rumours, but it could be that they are being targeted. If they are, it might just be that the plot itself hasn't been uncovered yet.

If your spymaster is well-skilled and likes you, you shouldn't have to worry too much.

for the vanilla game: when looking at an AI waging war against another...does it tell you if its for a duchy or a county? im on a mod right now and I can see it waging a war for the county name, but sometimes duchies are named after counties

I have 3 or 4 merchant republics as vassals, playing as the Basileus of Byzantine, ~930AD. They all have a -20 opinion on me for "Wrong Government Type". I'm not sure what is causing this?

Secondly, they only accept expensive gifts ($150-300+), and they keep electing a new Doge literally every 3 months or less which brings a new Doge with neg opinion. Why does the Doge in these merchant republics change so frequently? How can I fix this?

The "Wrong government type" malus is just because they're republican and you're feudal. No way around it, except to compensate with bonuses like the technology, trait and item ones.

New doges keep being elected because the way their governments work favor the election of old leaders, who die faster, are replaced by old leaders, etc etc etc. There's no real fix besides stuff that will generally keep them happy even without gifts. That's the price you pay for the big moonies the merchant republics bring in.

Can I change their government some how?

So randomly (afaict) a vassal will come to you with an offer to teach your commanders some trait. Is it possible to be proactive and ask a vassal to teach your other commanders something?

You can revoke their Duchy title, which will make them no longer a merchant republic, and then give it to a feudal lord. But that's probably not worth it, since Merchant Republics pay a lot in taxes.

Not really. You need to have your marshal in the appropriate job, though.

What job would that be?

Also: is there a way to see what the inheritance rules of a kingdom/empire before you usurp it?

1. in my latest game Fatimid just lost 2 crusades and 1 holy wars because the put the bulk of their armies in some province and stay there while their opponents siege castles and pick up their (and their allies) smaller stacks, is this normal behavior for AI?

2. How did smithing work in the latest patch? before you pick the tier you want to craft (higher tier higher scaling cost), but in latest patch no matter how much prestige i have i can only craft quality 1 artifact

But they aren't really paying a lot in taxes. They dominate the Mediterranean, almost no competing merchants, have several trade posts each in different realms, but the highest they give is $6, slightly more than many of my non-merchant vassals.

i believe in order to get the most out of merchant republic vassal you need to max out tax obligation law for burgher/city vassal, but yeah, in the end, it will be just slightly more compared to non-merchant

I have read elsewhere in this forum about people inviting characters of other religions to your court. Playing as Catholic - Feudal - in Europe the only people of other religions who ever show up in my court are Jews. Otherwise I cannot invite , seduce , or marry anyone outside of Catholic . Even characters of other religions that I capture in war cannot be converted to my faith in the dungeon. Is there some DLC that allows this ? Or some trick ?

If you have conclave, you might be able to work out a favor thing to get them to come to your court. I can't give more specifics because I do not have conclave.

You should be able to invite christians to your court, though I think Catholic heresies will refuse.

Otherwise, I can't think of any way to get members of other religions to join your court.

Change the according Game Rule "Invitation to Court" and "Interfaith Marriages".
That should suffice.

Religious conversion of prisoners might be limited to peace time, like with landed characters,
but i don't recall what it's actually like.
In doubt use a cheat menu mod, outside an ironman run that is..
