Also, if you have Jade Dragon, the Chancellor's off-map ability increases the rate threat goes down.

The off-map jobs were added by Monks & Mystics, not Jade Dragon.

Killing off families doesn't fix the issue with the trade zone, because posts are given to those newly-created families. Is there some line on the save-file that defines which family has a trade post in a particular county? Seems like the last resort on this case, so I'll have to try it.

No, when a family dies off their trade posts are distributed among the remaining families. That's why it's a strategy to repeatedly kill off families with more than five trade posts when you are a patrician yourself.

Nope, I'm not a patrician. I'm the Byzantine/Roman Emperor, and have Amalfi as a vassal merchant Republic. I care about the not blue-colored areas in the map a bit more than having 1-sized nodes, but still, I'd like to have both things solved, specially since I plan to move the capital to Rome...and Constantinople makes much more cash due the huge trade network surrounding it.

I read that to get nobles to join one's faction, one sends one's Spymaster to any county owned by the noble (which might as well be their capital) and get them to Build Spy Network? Is this correct? If the noble is in another county doing council work for their liege will this affect this?

Also, when recruiting faction members, do they have to be direct vassals of the liege one is making the faction against? For example, I am a Duke making a faction against my King. Presumably, I can recruit Counts who are direct vassals of the King to my faction, but what about Counts who are vassals of Dukes who are then vassals of the King?

Post script: Thanks in advance.

Sending the spymaster is one way, yes. As far as I know, them working out of the county won't change the chance of the spymaster target.

You can only recruit direct vassals to the king. You can't recruit sub vassals.

Does anyone know what the MTTH for the event where you get recruited by Lucifer's Own is these days?

I'm trying to get the "Servant No More" achievement on Steam, and I'm trying to follow the following strategy:

1) Get my character to join Lucifer's Own.
2) Use "Dark Healing" to grow his balls back.
3) Father many children.
4) Complete the requirements for the achievement at a leisurely pace.

However, I've waited a good ten years - I've ensured my character has the "Proud" trait - and no invitation to Lucifer's Own has been forthcoming. Have I just been unlucky, or am I doing something wrong? Is there anything else I can do to increase my character's chances of getting recruited?

Do you make money if your demesne is on trade routes?
I'm certain that merchant republic trade posts boost the income of cities in their zones, but not temples or castles. I'm fairly certain that silk road trade posts generate plenty of money directly for their owners and boost the holdings in the county a little (though not having horse lords or Jade Dragon, I haven't tested it). I have no idea what having the silk road go through a county does. Sorry.

Silk road through a county can do a lot, actually, depending on if it's open or not.

A closed silk road boosts incomes and movement speeds by at minimum .2%.

At its maximums, with a golden era China, incomes can be boosted by up to 30% or more.

The MTTH is pretty quick, usually just a few months. I've had bad luck runs though where I don't get an offer for at least 10 years while actively trying, and then I've had runs when I've been spammed with recruitment events when I'm specifically NOT trying to be recruited.

I was a Duke with Primogeniture succession law and led a faction to become King. In the Laws page, there is only one set of laws - for the kingdom - and it shows Gavelkind succession.

I own two counties in a single Duchy. When I mouse over the succession laws, it shows Gavelkind, but both counties show the same order of succession - that the firstborn of my two sons will inherit both counties.

I thought with Gavelkind, each of my two sons would get a county, but not so.

Is it because I'm a King now, and the Counties within a Duchy will not be split through gavelkind? So if was a King and had two duchies, both sons would get a duchy, but if I'm a King with one duchy, the firstborn son will get the duchy and all counties contained within?

You can't do the achievement that way, unfortunately. You have to complete it as Mu'nis, you can't do it as one of his descendants.

You don't lose the holy orders if you give away Jerusalem and they do become Orthodox if you mend the schism.

That's the exact reason why I asked. And can I vassalize them if I'm orthodox?

Dragatus's answer is, at best, incomplete. The Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaler can be vassalised by decision by the King of Jerusalem at any time so long as he is of the same branch of Catholicism as them. If you give away the kingdom, the new king can become take the decision when it suits him.

My understanding is that to get the Catholic Holy Orders to be Orthodox you need to mend the schism, make Catholic the main branch of the mended Ortholics (or Cathodox if you prefer), and then make Orthodox the main branch again. It tends to be easier, if less flavorful, to simply throw up your hands and kill off all the Orthodox and play as a Catholic. Then you can possibly hire 5 holy orders and go on Crusades.
