Why do my Commanders vanish from their leader slots? Constantly starting battles only to find there are no leaders anymore. Or I check a siege thats taking forever and there is no leader. I thought it just might be vassals doing some AI crap but its also commaders that are just courtiers.

Do they hate you? They might be quitting their job if they hate you enough.

How do you play as a Jewish ruler. I turned my ruler into a Jewish horse, and got bombarded by declarations of war. I mean I get that it's supposed to be hard, but this is just impossible. Do you guys have tips?

no... thats not what is happening. They arent quitting being commanders, they just are no longer leading troops.

Is it your vassal's troops? I feel like under certain circumstances vassals will place commanders at the head of their own troops.

Are you asking how to become Jewish? Or strategies for once you become Jewish?

For the former, you can start in Ethiopia as Jewish in most (all?) start dates, or you can land a Jewish player and then have them educate your heir.

For the former, it is much more situational. If you start as Semien in Ethiopia, you need to try not to get swallowed immediately by all the Coptics around you, and try to pick off counties 1x1 when a neighbor is in crisis. Once you gain a foothold and can hold your own against the Christians, try to refrain from having a border with the Abassids as long as possible so they do not holy war you to death. If you see a holy site that you could conquer from a country already at war give it a shot. Other than that it's a lot of playing tall and defensively until you start to snowball, at which point you try to move toward the holy land and form Israel.

I want to start a campaign as the duke of Quocho in 867. What would be the best way to adopt the faith of his [Nestorian] vassal brother?

Become friends and wait for an event? Have him marry, have (Nestorian) children, and then marry one of your sons to one of his daughters and convert to wife's religion? Let him educate your heir? Die and become him?

Presuming one has both Satanists and secret religious cults turned off, what, aside from giving you some piety, does having your chaplain hunt apostates actually do?

How is the secret society situation right now? Last time I quit the game, all my 459080934 vassals and court were members of the party of ali. :/

The next patch will try to deal with it, but it's not out yet. At the moment the only solutions are using mods or turning secret religious cults off in the game rules.

De jure drift query:

Primary title was the kingdom of Leon. The duchy of Spoleto in Italy was drifting into Leon, and almost at 100 years.

Six years ago, I formed the Empire of Hispania, which is obviously now my primary title.

The drift clock on Spoleto is now going backwards, seemingly losing two years for every year.

As far as I can tell, this has been happening only since I formed Hispania. Which seems odd to me because the Kingdom of Leon still exists, so surely that drift should be unaffected?

The Kingdom of Italy is still not formed, so I can't think of what else this could be other than forming Hispania, but that doesn't seem right to me.

Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

Titles can only drift into your primary titlle and they can only drift into a title that is one rank higher. So once you have an empire all drifting of duchies into kingdoms stops and reverses and the only drift possible is the drift of kingdoms into your empire.

He has to be in your court in order for you to be able to legitimize him. If you let him marry he'll move to his wife's court and you won't be able to legitimize him.

If she sent you a marriage proposal you could try to legitimize him before you accept it. Do watch it that you're getting a regular marriage though and not a matrilineal one.
