Hey guys, I have a question. I usually don't play with Catholic characters because getting claims is difficult and takes too long. I understand that if I marry my daughter off to someone with a claim, I will be able to push their children's claim. Besides using the "fabricate claim" mission for my chancellor, is there any other common ways of getting claims as a catholic character?

Thank you

With the Sons of Abraham DLC Catholic also have a unique way of getting claims that is not available to anyone else. A Catholic ruler can ask the pope to be given a strong claim to any barony, county, or duchy held by another Catholic at the cost of 100 Piety. It has to be the actual pope of the Papacy though, anti-popes don't have this ability. Whether or not you get the claim depends on the pope's opinion of both you and the current holder of the title, but if you're an emperor and you've made the pope your vassal he'll always obediently give you the claim, regardless of opinion.

Anti-Pope question: I set up an anti-pope, used him a bit for vassal management, and now IDK what to do with him. I don't have the navy or army to push his claim, I don't need him anymore, and now Catholicism is starting to shatter into landed heresies, more anti-popes, and the pagans are actually pushing in. I tried assassinating him but I don't know how to get rid of him and start repairing the faith. Should I just pick a heresy and abandon Catholicism and its 2 Moral Authority? Or... is there a hidden button to remove him?

Yes, there is: the same button on the Religion tab that you clicked to create him in the first place.

How do building costs work?

I have one province with blast furnace (-20%), stone quarry (-25%) and Construction technology 4 (-12.5%) and still pay 87.5 % of the price.

In the province next to it the price for a Keep 3 is 404 gold (construction technology 3) instead of the 300 the wiki says.

Buildings actually cost 150% of their base cost as defined in the building files. There's a setting called BUILDING_COST_MULT in defines with a default value of 0.5. So that Keep 3 costs 450 gold before applying construction tech.

I wasn't able to check the numbers on the blast furnace and stone quarry though, since I'm not sure how you got 87,5%.

Ironman - how can I be sure my game hasn't disabled achievements after starting with them on? When I tried to Continue my Ironman save from the loading screen, it failed and warned me there was an issue. Starting the game and then loading the Ironman save from the menu worked. But before I had a corrupted Ironman load but no achievements, and I don't remember how to check that for this new game. I haven't added new mods or DLCs - it's the same as when I first started it with Ironman and Achievements active.

As the Queen of Frisia, I am a proper Catholic,* and naturally invaded Pomerania the moment the pope declared a crusade, so that I might save their souls from perdition. By the grace of God we won, and now I'm the liege of some beastly pagan temple whose priest won't voluntarily convert. The textbox says I'll piss my other vassals off if I just revoke the title, so is there any other way to deal with this?

*: Since I haven't found a way to convert to Catharism yet.

When he dies he'll be replaced by a Catholic bishop. You can murder him to speed up the process, or just wait it out.

Pass religious revocation law. Why didn't you do that years ago?

I haven't played in the HRE in forever so I have to ask : what happens if you get a bunch of non-de jure vassals (inside the empire), then win the election and then lose it at the next generation? Do all those non-de jure vassals revert back to the emperor?

I think you would indeed lose anyone who is not a de jure vassal of whatever titles you'd get to keep. When you become emperor their vassalage shifts to the imperial title.

I guess multi-duke is the way to go then. Thanks.

Yeah, that's how it works, and it's one of the most obvious and uncomfortable limitations of CK2's elective implementation.

As the Shahanshah of Afghanistan, I cannot defeat the Arabian Caliphate; even when I outnumber the Arabs 16000-12000 on flat terrain, the battle ends with my soldiers broken and fleeing. Is there anything in particular I should be looking at in the battle screen (which I presently admit I still don't fully understand) to try and determine why my soldiers fold so easily? It's not like I am particularly dependent on light infantry or anything, and my commanders are entirely capable. The Arabs seem to be using a lot of camel archers, if that's meaningful...

Didn't realize that was what it did, to be honest. Also, had higher priorities.
Yeah, that's all it is. It gives you and vassal rulers the right to revoke heretics and infidels without getting tyranny (except among co-religionists of the people you revoked).

@TheGrinningMan can you provide a screenshot of the battle screen? That would be the simplest way of checking whether anything is wrong with troop composition.

As for other factors, if the Muslims have low decadence they get a morale bonus and perhaps they had a commander who was a Flat Terrain Expert. Finally it could also be a matter of luck in triggering specific combat tactics. Especially if you are the attacker.

Does anyone know if there will be anymore Crusader Kings II DLC released and when there will be a new Crusader Kings III? Also, I own Crusader Kings: Complete on Steam, but everytime I launch the game, the game itself loads up but on the loading screen it makes it about halfway then an error comes up saying Crusader Kings has stopped working. Any ideas?
