Not really sure which thread to ask, but I'm having problems getting stuff from the steam workshop, none of it shows up when I launch the game, just the mods and other stuff I've downloaded manually. What to do? :/

If you look at the actions you would take (like changing succession law), you will see that there are exceptions for some built in (e.g. Basque, Cathar, Messalian). Hover over the actions to see, but I think Messalian is generally exempt.Since we have now this law slider for women rights, what happens when I convert to Messalian ? Does the women then have the most rights automatically or do I still have to reform the law manually ?
That is odd. I seem to be far ahead of everyone else. My spymaster can't even go anywhere to steal tech. when I convert I still get eastern tech. ... I am at 1356 and plan to play CKII up to 1444 then convert. Hopefully by then when I convert all have the western tech group. Could it have anything to do with how far west I conquer? It's not based off a specific tech level but how your compare to the overall average tech level in the game. That way converting an early game doesn't prevent everyone from being western.
An exception are the Aztec and Inca - If you have Sunset Invasion enabled, they will always be High American.
How far along through the tech branches do I have to get with the roman empire before I get western tech tree in EU4 when using the converter?
Since 1.18 with the introduction of institutions technology groups no longer change cost of tech and thus there is no longer any need for tech groups to be all over the place. It's not based off a specific tech level but how your compare to the overall average tech level in the game. Yes. In fact I read a complaint from one guy recently who couldn't figure out why his player character kept randomly revolting against his liege (his liege was trying to imprison him and failing miserably). What about imprisonment ? does this ever happen? beside the case of an ai rebelling i mean.
Doesn't have to be your daughter. Any relative will do. And remember to marry the women off matrilineally, so the children are of your dynasty. You can also marry your sons to princesses. The marriage partner doesn't have to have a claim at the time of the marriage. Claims are generated on the death of the parents, depending on succession laws.I understand that if I marry my daughter off to someone with a claim, I will be able to push their children's claim. Besides using the "fabricate claim" mission for my chancellor, is there any other common ways of getting claims as a catholic character?

Your vassals will often accumulate a good amount of weak claims just by themselves. But you have no control over that and often it's territory you don't want.
You can also invite claimants and land them, but getting land for them is usually a very big issue unless for example you holy war for a duchy and have lots of land to distribute.
