it just happens me with barony-level vassals in conclave, patrician families do as you describe..I was waiting for the AI to choose a focus for them, but the education "button" is absent from barony-level vassals kids..they almost always end with a random level 1 education, even if they're genius..it only happens to me? :(

You can't pick 1 for them. The education traits are the same as WoL so baron characters don't get them.

well, its a HUGE bug, im suprised nobody noticed/fixed it yet..screws your game and the AI ends up with a host of level 1 useless "powerful vassals" in council and as commanders, screwing things a little further

I'm not sure what is going on when I send my spymaster to 'sow dissent' among local lords. Is he (i) lowering the opinions of barons and bishops towards their count, (2) lowering the opinions of the count towards his barons and bishops, (3) lowering the opinion of the count towards his liege, (4) lowering the opinion of the liege towards his count, or (5) doing something else?

What is does is that an event will fire that damages the opinion of a vassal in the province that your councilor is sowing dissent in and that vassal's liege. I believe the modifier is both ways too. If there's more than one vassal in the province you are targeting (for example, a wâli and a mayor), I don't think you get to choose who gets hit by the event, so I generally pick provinces with few holdings or with more powerful characters that have multiple holdings to be on the safe side. Councilors are also good targets, in my opinion.

I often play as Muslim characters and don't really need to fabricate claims when I have access to the County Conquest and Invasion casus belli, so I use my Grand Vizier every once in a while to try and stir up rebellions.

Conclave, is it worth dropping the $20 on it right now or should I wait for a sale?

Are you sure it's 20 bucks ? It's 15 euros in Steam for me.
Anyway, wait for a sale. MIght take around six months though before it goes down.

edit:
Actually... buy it if it's important for you. Most bugs and issues are in the patch anyway.
Educations is glitchy, but apart from that the DLC features do work as i understand.

Sorry, $20 including the content pack. I just picked up the main DLC since you said most of the issues have been fixed and I'll get the content pack at a later time.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

S... since you said most of the issues have been fixed....

Err....I didn't say that, but i also don't know about specific meaningful bugs currently (2.5.2) regarding specific DLC features.
So what i meant to say is, that the game isn't suddenly broken and unplayable with the DLC ...............it's already broken without. ;)
Nah, just joking. *ahem*

I grabbed Horse Lords and the Horse Lords Content Pack on Steam a day or two ago. When I play Paradox Interactive games, I like to be up-to-date on the DLC in order to get the full experience and a chance at those juicy achievements. However, I live in a foreign country and almost always get paid it cash, making depositing money into my American bank account a real bitch sometimes. This makes me a bit cautious when purchasing games that aren't on sale unless I know it'll be really worth the price. So here's my question: Conclave, is it worth dropping the $20 on it right now or should I wait for a sale? I'm going to get it eventually, but I just want to get a feel for the general impression of that DLC before I grab it sooner than later.

By the way, if this is the wrong area to post this question then I apologize in advance.

if you want to land your son with a barony and then have your grandsons go level 1 uneducated because they forgote covering the educational issue for barony-level, yeah, buy it...id wish i could revert back to pre-conclave..not to mention the decreased challenge gave by the AI because of so many uneducated barons/city mayors/commanders going around
If you play with, say, byzantium, well you wont notice probably, but otherwise you will see everyone going dumb, while playing your big empire is even easier because at least you retain a pool of talents/manpower...just the opposite as it happened historically

Why can't you revert back? I always thought you had the option to use earlier versions of the game somehow. Or is that only Europa Universalis IV?

Ah. I never play with mods, so it's not such a big problem with me. I am a bit worried concerning your comment about the game being less challenging though. We'll see. If I can last five generations without completely screwing myself over, you may have a point.

Hi all!

I have a bit of a technical problem, I hope someone can provide me with a workaround.

The problem: I'm the orthodox (non-mended) Basileus going into my 54th year, I've been having the event chain from possessed for nearly 35 years. So far it's no been more than a little nuisance, as I can just convert back from heresies via the intrigue menu.
But, this time It's Iconoclasm that I've been assigned. And I can't convert back because the "convert to orthodox" decision has been replaced with "renounce Iconoclasm" and "Instaure iconoclast patriarchate" (I'm not 100% sure of the exact names).

Renounce iconoclasm requires "year is before 900". I started as Alexios Komnenos in 1081 so it's greyed out and unavailable...

Is this a known issue? and does anyone know an easy workaround other that waiting for death? I couldn't find anything useful on the forum.

As far as I can make out this comes from the Charlemagne DLC. I am running ironman 2.4.5 and all major DLC except Conclave, RoI, Sunset Invasion and HL, if that helps.

Thanks in advance guys! :)

So you are iconoclast now through an possessed event chain and want to return to orthodox am i right ?

With Rajas you could convert to your capitals religion, but i thought iconoclasm is just a heresy one can denounce like any other without a DLC in the base game... confusing.
Though i might think of SonsOfAbraham.....#CK2DLCcontentmess

Have your bishop (what ever he's called) research stuff.
Might be he finds out about this new heresy called orthodoxy....That's all i can think of.

Maybe WoL has some useful focus, but i don't know.

Too lazy to read myself....and might be outdated:

First off thanks for the answer!

Yes, that's it. I don't want religious mess to start happening as vassals start converting to iconoclast.

I don't have Rajas sadly.
See, I thought so too so I went to look for the decision but it simply isn't in the intrigue/decision menu. Apparently if you're a Basileus you can only leave iconoclasm through the specific Charlemagne DLC decision to "Renounce Iconoclasm" which is different from the other ones... Wiki doesn't really have anything useful on the subject sadly.

I'll give the chaplain idea a try, if I pick a guy with 0 learning it should raise the odds enough that I'll get it before I die. I can't change focus for a while though but if I can I'll give theology a try, I think it can also convert you to heresies.

Thanks :)

When one of the five families of a MR dies out, what happens to the gold of the last member? Does it go the Doge, to the top liege (if there is one), does it vanish?
