Not sure whether it is Gavelkind directly or simply a bug in relation to the Provence County, but I have experienced this a number of times in two different games and multiple reloads:

West Francia control a vast tract of land, including the majority of Burgandy and two Counties within the De Jur Duchy of Provence, however I control Provence County directly (me as a King having direct control of the county). However the moment the King of West Francia dies and Gavelkind kicks in, Burgandy splits away and I lose control of Provence, which gets absorbed into the new Kingdom of Burgandy and becomes the capital. No war, no claims, no ill feelings either side, I just lose the country and the new King gets it???

Is this supposed to happen??

Can you please handle the early crusade event so catholic's aren't given an overabundance of holy orders or if you don't want to do that, localize them so only their specific cultural groups have access to them until after 1066 or the old gods start date.

I cannot download this patch only old patch as shown a beta what's happening? The game is unplayable with original patch:

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...sal-to-join-factions-quot-not-working-anymore
It displays in Steam beta as 2.2.0.3 but you should get 2.2.0.4 in fact.

Release soon ?
Unknown, entirely depends on whether it looks like all the most serious issues are dealt with. I myself would suspect there's at least one more beta needed, but that's entirely unofficial.

Thanks, I really need to register my key to get access to those threads.
Please do.

All of my "invite noble to court" characters are named martin. every single one of them. Also, clicking the name randomiser in the ruler designer doesn't work for me. Not game breaking but just wanted to mention it.

Yes, I've been seeing this too. It looks like the name selection for generated characters is broke to all hell. Some cultures are affected more than others, for example most/all Prussian names are still being picked, but the only name that male Russians are getting is Rurik. I don't think the game wants to pick names that are localised versions of names that have generic English forms, such as the German Heinrich for Henry, unless they are exactly the same; for instance Simon in French is still Simon, so it can still be assigned. Beyond that, perhaps the game only picks names with no English equivalent, such as Gerdautas for a Prussian character, if that culture has no names at all that are identical to an English equivalent.

No the problem is that I have only this beta branches: 1.11 and 2.04 and not the new ones! What is happening?

I'm the only one having this problem?
Yes, I think so. Try this:

Exit Steam and go to the Steam folder. manually delete everything in there EXCEPT steam.exe and the /SteamApps/ folder. Now manually run steam.exe and let it re-build everything, and try again.

Doesn't appear to have been fixed completely. While the wars aren't being ignored anymore, the revolts aren't being registered as causing the rebels to become de-facto independent, and this causes the wars to invalidate as soon as the game starts. I have no idea why. Is it something wrong on my end?

I just tested the Flemish Independence scenario and it seems there is an issue with historical wars using CB's against your liege that are not marked as major_revolt. You could solve this by simply adding the major_revolt = yes to the bid_for_independece_cb, or you could use the cb_faction_independence and fake a faction-revolt instead. :)

I took a couple of runs with this over the weekend, and learned several lessons/reached a couple of conclusions:

  1. The region centered on Avaria is a dynamic chaotic mess - I took several runs here and my best results were dissolved by gavelkind or I was assassinated with no dynastic heir, the rest of the time revolts, opportunistic subjugations, or the Byzantines rained on the parade. Fun times.
  2. Capturing and holding feudal provinces as a tribal lord is just as frustrating as the reverse
  3. Raiding is the secret to happiness
  4. Irish raiding is Nirvana
  5. I saw my first ever successful heresy revolt when a Fratricelli Heresiarch was made ruler of the rump Pictland provinces left from Fortriu freedom revolt
  6. Revolts are much more threatening to tribal realms
  7. I successfully recruited and used holy warriors/zealots for my Holy War against those Fratricelli heretics
  8. I was inordinately happy with creating the true Kingdom of Dal Riata by decision (even if it was a tad earlier than I wanted due to gavelkind inheritance risk)
  9. Gavelkind seems to work cleanly at lower level of titles, or at least I could generally figure it out, when it does not create a highest level title out of thin air to divide the realm

All in all, pretty solid experience superior to the released vanilla. I look forward to this hitting the wild.

I loaded up a previous save, and the main thing I noticed was that the Abbasid CoA was replaced by the Zunbil CoA. Not a big deal, pretty funny really.

It seems faction revolts do indeed no longer count against vassal limit, as described in the patch notes. However, temporarily independent vassals that become that way because of direct war declaration or being called as ally still count. Especially in case of allies, these can get very numerous, so they probably also should not count against their temporary liege.

Multiple vassal king penalties

I havent played CK2 for ages, so I dont know to what extend this is new or old bug (or not bug at all). I formed the Empire of Britannia. Then, I granted the Kingdom of Ireland to my vassal. Now, he has two vassal king penalties (-25 neg mod). Is this normal? Shouldnt he have only one?

Maybe I just don't understand how elective gavelkind is supposed to work, but a dude holding two duchies died and the primary heir inherited both, with both his sons each getting a county, but as vassals to the guy who got the duchies - wasn't one of them supposed to get one or the duchy titles?
