Hm, the Confucian Bureaucracy government type is fascinating. And obviously non-dynastic so it makes sense that it's unplayable... but I've long wanted a government type like it that lets you hold cities and castles.

That's a shame.

It's a damn shame that we can't play as the western protectorate, because the confucian bureaucracy seems to be a lot more interesting than monastic feudalism.

So they went with the Song being the 'main' Chinese Dynasty of the 3 Dynasties that existed all at one time for the majority of CK2's timeframe when the Song were a weak Dynasty that, along with Western Xia, paid tribute to the Liao Dynasty and never were in a position to get tribute from places outside China.

The Tang Dynasty ended in 907 which is a very small part of the CK2 timeframe. The Song Dynasty, Liao Dynasty, and Western Xia were the 3 Dynasties of the majority of CK2's timeframe with the Liao being the the strongest before they fell in 1125 with the Jin Dynasty then controlling northern China until the Mongol conquests and the Liao establishing Qara Khitai in Central Asia until the Mongol Conquests. The announcement page for the expansion shows the Song as the main dynasty.

The Song did many great things that affected later Dynasties but had a weak military and could not influence places like India.

Will there be any new religions added to the game? During the reign of the Tang Dynasty in china the emperor was a follower of Taoism(Daoism), and the first Tang Emperor claimed descent from Taoist sage Laozi. So will we have the chance to spread Taoist beliefs into India and beyond, and if so will there be any new societies introduced for it?

I haven't really played any games on the eastern edge of the map. Assuming this DLC doesn't impact the performance dramatically I'll have to take it out for a whirl.

Why is the Tibetan culture named "Bodpa", I mean French culture isn't named "Francais". Also the Tibetan Empire is named "Bodchenpo", which is the native name (endonym). But Iran is still called Persia and not Iran or Aryana, and the Byzantine Empire isn't named "Basileia Rhomaion". This seems really inconsistent.

Hm, the Confucian Bureaucracy government type is fascinating. And obviously non-dynastic so it makes sense that it's unplayable... but I've long wanted a government type like it that lets you hold cities and castles.

That's a shame.
Honestly I saw that and now I'm just annoyed with it being unplayable. Means I'll pretty much have to kill it and remove one of the interesting elements there since it'll just get in the way if I want to play as a chinese character and don't want to spend eternity being a vassal. Quite frankly its just making the blatant lack of a proper and playable autocratic government even worse. :(

I like the DLC other than that though.

Well have Svea Rike and Norge as well so it's always been inconsistent.

Dictionary of Chinese Characters: New Chinese and Tibetan portraits and Chinese units bring the empire to life

Implying that Tibetans are Chinese

Seems to me that the text does make at least some effort to be polysemous. I mean, if they wanted to officially follow the PRC line it would refer to Tibetans in this way:

Dictionary of Chinese Characters:
New Chinese portraits and Chinese units bring the empire to life

The part in bold is just a silly pun anyway. (I wonder whether 硬汉字典 would give a similar idea in Mandarin....?)
