I remember good, old EU1. Translation into Swedish, Norwegian and Danish(essensially dialects camouflaged as national languages), and the word invincible was translated into the equivalent of invisible, among other fun stuff.
Something I noticed in the demo is that in the HRE, the emperor often hands out the duchy of Thuringia/Thüringen so someone, who doesn't have any holdings in that region like the count of Aargau or the count of Neuchatel; having either of them as the duke of Upper Burgundy would have made more sense. They might have had a claim, however IIRC at the start of the demo there isn't a duke of Thuringia/Thüringen yet, however the title does often appear and ends up in the hands of a count from Upper Burgundy.

They did that mistake with the original subtitles of Attack of the Clones too. "Snart skal jeg bli usynlig" ("Soon, I shall be invisible" instead of "Soon, I shall be invincible"). Maybe they hired the same translator.
Can't get enough of the demo so far. I know I should stop playing because it's always heartbreaking when the 20 years are up and things just start to get interesting. Just now for example I was the Duchy of Barcelona and I was waiting for the King of Aragon to end his current war so I could usurp his title. The moment I usurped it and became king, the demo ended :glare:
Regardless, I'm getting this for sure. I also like how the Byzantine Empire doesn't crumble within the first 10 years from the Seljuk's like they did every single time in CK1. Should make playing in that realm a possibility now.

so how is everyone playing a kings that are not in the demo, i tried clicking the prtrait on of the four then clicking another province it did not work
Choose one of the 4, press start, then as it begins to load click on the province you want to play.

I’ve played the "demo" (my first ever), I like it and I did pre-order - boxed DVD version, off course. This is my first game pre-order ever, also.
What I've noticed while playing is that the game is much more detailed than original CK in many ways (visually and strategically). Unfortunately the available characters to play with, were the ones that I would never choose myself by free will, especially because I prefer starting as a count, and also for CKII one have to take a new learning curve compared with the way it’s predecessor was played (and I am rusty for paradox games anyway), so I struggled with huge Byzantine Empire (at war) that I inherited at the very beginning.
I like how the battle function now, addition of baronies and very important how game is smooth and easy (expecting that this is just promotional not updated version) compared with complete (and polished) CK original that stayed slow and moody even at the end. Graphic improvement is huge (but not surprisingly since I fallowed most of the developer news). Looks to me that developer successfully accomplished what they were targeting and what they promised (and what I was hoping it will be) to made game that is in base core the same as CK but improved, detailed and more interesting. Congratulation and thanks to developers for doing this, so we can have fun playing it.
Also, looking at starting map and characters (menu) - there is a lot of historical “errors” I’ve noticed about names, positions, religion or nation of provinces as well as incorrect dynasty persons (so I wonder how someone who made the game about history in depth like CK, have such a bad information about this things. However it might be several reason for that (I guess because of playability of the game itself, or maybe because of some kind of political (in)correctness reflecting our present time or they just studied some kind of alternative history to position mentioned pieces of the game J ). But I had to say, honestly, it is not that important after all, I am just nitpicking, and I will enjoy playing those characters any way.

You can still play around as a count
There's an 'undocumented feature' in the demo, if you select one of the starting 4 choices, start the game, but manage to click on a different place on the map before it's finished loading, you will start there instead.I think the Byzantine guy is the hardest to play, myself. His empire will literally collapse once his father dies, and he inherits the throne. The Bohemian Duke or Polish King are the best starting choices. There's still a lot going on, but the interface and alert system is really helpful, you're not going to miss anything that you need to be doing.

Seljuks still fighting. Azerbijan started being annoying and the Pechenegs wanted trouble.
Then Michael died (His stats are so poisonous for relations with vassals) and his 6 year old son inherited who later became Alexandros the Great.
