The basic military tutorial seems bugged. After loading troops on the fleet, sailing to Moray Firth and unloading the units, the tutorial hangs at the reminder to not forget to unpause the game (it isn't paused and the units have arrived on Moray Firth). I tried this a few times with the same result.

If you move the army into the Moray province the tutorial will continue.

You need to rise your crown authority.:) Might require some generations, depending on your starting authority.

I imprisoned a wife of a son for no good reason, SHe was daughter of the king of bohemia (not indepentent as in the HRE but still obv very powerful). ANyway his opinion of me didnt change 1 bit as a result. Very wierd. Whereas when you get a divorce apparently their family get annoyed.

Now execute her and see if the relations take a hit...

There is no way to save, but you can play for 400 years, this will explain how: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...-(In-Demo)&p=13391355&viewfull=1#post13391355

You can play for a thousand years if you do a few minutes of editing history files and don't care about being historically correct. ;-)

I've been having a blast with this. The game is so pre-ordered now. Normally not being able to save would be a problem, but I haven't had the game crash on me yet, and I've played 600+ years if you add all my games together. Very impressive.

I LOVE how nations (or political entities :p) don't just break up because 1 vassal goes crazy.

Even the Byzantines kept going strong. At then end of my 20 years as King of Poland they took back land from Aleppo lost earlier (Armenia Minor, Antioch) and also took Aleppo itself and parts of Mesopotemia.

This game is really really good. I also like claims are not thrown around and vassals fight wars internally so your realm doesn't get screwed over by claims.

I just come to end of a game with the duke of Turov : What a great game !
Firstly, I distributed my poorer lands to vassals, allowing to my heir a big block in the south, after married him to Adhelaid Salian, providing me the best european military force as ally. After married my other son to a croatian princess, I invaded the baltic tribes, and created the duchy of Lithuania. Then I created the duchy of Tver, and invaded a revolted TPM count. Having amassed 600g , I turned my eyes to Moldova, and invaded the Pechenegs lands.
At this point, things got complicated. The Couman king declared war on me and 15 000 tengrist took Kiev and other south cities, even with 10 000 germanic soldiers. Desesperated, I sent an assassin to Couman kings two times, and killed him. Effect : His vassals started to revolt, notably Crimea, and his army was reduced to 3000 soldiers. Thanks to Heinrich IV's army, I managed to make a white peace with him.
Please, Paradox, let me play sooner than 14th !!

It still uses the Clausewitz engine?
A shame as it can only use 1 core, and my laptop won't be able to pull it off.

But I don't know how much it would cost to make an engine that can use more cores so I don't know if it is a justified whine.

forget what I said, this doesn't apply to the newest paradox games.(my excuse)

Cool map. These look like the most clean AI borders I've seen in any PI game before the 1930's.
Looks like Kings need to be more powerful though. Pretty much all the realms from the beginning have broken up.

Is that true? Both of my cores are in use when I run the game according to my CPU monitor, and with usually with single core games I find the one core is in use and the other idle or of low percentage usage.

I think I may have to lay off the demo until the game comes out. The 20 year limit hadn't been a big deal for me. I just fooled around with the four available characters, trying to get a feel for the mechanics. Oh, what's this? I can play as any character you say? Well, let's see what playing a count is like. Earl Muiredach of Desmond seems like a good choice: out of the way, surrounded by small, independent counties and duchies. I expected to manage taking a county or two, build up my county, basic stuff like that. I already had four sons, but I went ahead and married the sister of the Kaiser anyway. I mean, why not? Then I married my son to the Ylving Princess (in the event the King managed to take the English throne). I even got my half-brother set up with the Capet princess. I have no idea why these major houses were so willing to unite with House Mac Carthaigh, but they did. As it turns out, the Kaiser's sister ended up as the Duchess of Franconia -- and her very Irish daughter was her only heir. My son's Norwegian beauty would give their son the Duchy of Vestland. With the primogeniture law that I passed, and a cousin marriage down the road, the Mac Carthaigh's would have gone from backwater bumpkins to major players in two of the most powerful realms in a mere two generations (Not to mention that it would immediately put the money and levies from those territories to work winning the Irish Crown). I didn't realize this until 1083 during a game pause. Once I did, I just sat there for awhile, unwilling to unpause, imagining what might have been.

I'll definitely start out the full game as Earl Muiredach, but the chances that the family will matrilineally inherit two major duchies is pretty slim.

I also tried the demo then instantly pre-ordered. I hope that through mods/patches/content, that more options are added for plots and intrigue. I played 20 years as the Saxon Duke of Lancaster and the chaos that is England kept me busy through it, but during less turbulent times I'm hoping theres some more built out on the political side.
