Is there any other places to download the patches than through steam?
No, if you bought the game on gamersgate you should have a CD-key to activate it on steam to get the latest patches.
I wonder how that site feels about their name these days.
Has support for CK2 ended? It's been four weeks since the last patch and there are still a mountain of issues plaguing the game. Given this company's trepidation over digging too deeply into the code, I'm surprised that they would take on a patch of such scale that it would require this long to test.
Maybe they simply work decently now, instead of rushing things.
Four weeks is nothing. Don't be ridiculous.
Give them a little time to breath.

There hasn't been a clean patch since 2.0.4 (pre RoI) and Catholics are broken due to an easily fixable (a modder already did) bug. We shouldn't have to wait until the next DLC comes along and brings new bugs before the old ones are fixed.

I don't know if Catholicism is that bad off. In my recent games, I have not seen child anti-popes (or any anti-popes popping up).
Though the Intrigue/Spy On focus does lead to the Ecumenical Patriarch constantly being killed. I imagine that the same fate is in store for a vassalized Pope.
Then you got lucky, all it takes is one Pope with the Lustful trait and/or Seduction focus and MA is tanked for over 50 years.
It's impossible to give an approximate date for patchs. They have to find the reason for bugs, the have to fix the bugs. The have to text if this cause new bugs. The have to fix the new bugs too. And you can't know how much time you need for every of this point. How would you approximate a date?
It is pretty obvious how to communicate about this.
"We have fixed a lot of older issues but a lot of them remain, judging from the rate of solving we had previously and the amount of new bugs that are reported, we can estimate that next patch will come in 3 to 5 weeks, with bigger likeliness of the 5 week estimate."
HF: We've always said for as long as our players keep asking for more! That said, of course there will come a point when it's simply no longer viable for the company. The game is also getting extremely complex and increasingly hard to maintain and expand upon, but we are now in the middle of a major "tech upgrade" and bug cleansing effort that we started in parallel with the "Way of Life" expansion. We plan to release three more major expansions this year, and then we'll take stock and see where we are. Personally, I've learned so much from my mistakes that I'm dying to make Crusader Kings III, but that is still many years off...
HF: Next up for CKII we will finish our "tech upgrade" and spend a few weeks cracking down on the bug count. Then we will start working on the next expansion which is currently in the planning stages. The plan is to release the upgrades as part of the free patch that goes with that expansion. This expansion will not be event driven like "Way of Life", but more akin to "Legacy of Rome" and "Sons of Abraham".
I fear they have promised similar things one time too many for me to be enthusiastic about this. I'll rather be positively be surprised by this actually happening than being disappointed yet again. Still, I guess it's better than outright saying that they don't care about some bugs and glitches and rather focus on producing the next big DLC .... ^^;
