That surprises me (haven't checked in game as of now), as they added the "- Fixed bug where all event spawned troops that scaled on a target was MUCH larger than supposed to." in 2.2.0.5,
but added "- The Rise of the Shia revolt is now much bigger." in 2.2.0.8.
Hmm...
The bug fixed in 2.2.0.5 had been around for a while, and the multiplier value had been adjusted downward to try to get the event to generate the proper number of troops, to compensate for the bug. When the bug was fixed, those multiplier values had to be adjusted upward, as the bug was no longer boosting the values to the desired amount.

I know why they added the Shia revolt fix. I only wonder how that was done, if Dracko81 sees 3 thousand troops only in a game started in 2.2.0.9..

Thank you Devs for the work you do. I can't think of any other game developer that continues to work on its products and make improvements. Most just churn garbage out that doesn't work at ALL for many of us, with a "please note we may cancel support (or even actual functionality) of this game within a 30 day period", then take your money and run. I just buy Paradox at this point.

Yeah, I suppose if your personal QA standards are that low then this must seem like an awesome example of post-product support.

Just a quick practical question from my end re this patch - apologies if I am repeating others:

What is the best way to play this now, start a new game or continue from an existing pre-patch save?

And thanks to the devs and all beta testers here!!!!!!!!!

Most of the event troops were holy orders. Cause they didn't use retinue types. (was the only one able to stand up to fine tuned player retinue)
That should have been common knowledge. So scaling down the general event spawned extra means toning down the holy order types.

But then again have not started a new game to see if it is now more playable aside from some general testing.
will start one soon, to see if it feels beter or just frustrating again.
(mid game in both type stayed the same, it was early game that lead to players feeling helpless without exploiting some kind of mechanic)

I know why they added the Shia revolt fix. I only wonder how that was done, if Dracko81 sees 3 thousand troops only in a game started in 2.2.0.9..

Shia uprising gives them a total of 79.8% of the total levy available. This means any rebellion of the shia will be put down. Add mercs, add an outside aggressor...

I just done a fair amount of testing and the match multiplier associates itself exclusively to the available levies. So even if they did win through luck, they would be wiped out from the recently conquerred penalties imposed on all the holdings taken and no troops to defend themselves.

Decadence troops get 120%.

I am currently running a game on observe waiting for them to get ~50% decadence to hopefully show other things as well.

High decadence does many things to a muslim realm, and events like shi'a give an immediate negative to decadence. Resulting in more available troops than was previously available.

Interesting.
How can it be three thousand only then, if "Unless Shia uprisings of 3k troops against an empire spanning from India to the Atlanic" the realm they spawn against should have many more troops
and thus many the revolt should have more than three thousand ? I'm seriously curious.

edit: Or did they spawn against a vassal of that empire ?

Must be independant to spawn. Caliph was over vassal limit due to decadence. Gets free -30 decadence(shia uprising), can now raise 40k troops. Seems legit.

Total levy available, aside from being affected by opinion, means that if their armies were recently destroyed they are sitting on a very low number while they regenerate.

Yeah i know, i jsut thought it to be a bug or that the event spawned against a realm that was independent in that moment and somehow became vassalised shortly after or some such crazy situation.

Wait, three thousand is not 79.8% of fourty.... Oh, you mean the caliph gets 79,8% plus additional modifiers ?

Hmm...i don't know, sounds bad. Maybe i misunderstand something here. Anyway...
Let's hope i can watch it in my game tonight and see for myself. :D

That is right, being over vassal limit meant that the caliph had very few troops available. The event triggered and spawns troops, the caliph then gets a -30 to decadence, bringing him back into his vassal limit. And boom caliph goes from 4k troops to 40k overnight. The shia uprising gets 79.8% of the realms available troops.

Oh, it's the vassal limit being linked to decadence causing this.
I didn't get the decadence references you made earlier, as i didn't know that decadence influences vassal limit or didn't remember (Haven't played muslims in 2.2x nor payed much attention to it).
Now that you mentioned it, i have looked it up in the patch log.
I see. That's huge.

Keep up the good work. I have run into one issue with 2.2.0.9 and this patch.

The AI tends to raise armies that contain 0 troops. The troop immediately vanishes, and the AI summons another one, which results in a sort of "blinking" Armies effect. I have also had my own moments where I would "raise all levies" and in "some" provinces, the levy would appear with 0 troops then quickly vanish.

Yeah, I suppose if your personal QA standards are that low then this must seem like an awesome example of post-product support.

Hey, I've bought Electronic Arts games. I don't there were as many patches for my twenty plus EA games as there have been for CK2 alone, and that ISN'T because EA ships their games without major bugs or design flaws. Some bugs in FIFA lasted over three iterations.

Well, the obvious solution here is to only give him the reduction to decadence if he wins, or to give the reduction to decadence before spawning the troops. Might need to split the event in two, to give the game time to recalculate so the target has his full troop count before the event troops are spawned.

Edit:
I wonder if this also effects faction rebellions. If the faction thinks they outnumber the liege, they will rebel, but if those vassals leaving takes the liege under the vassal limit, he'll suddenly have far more troops than the rebels expected.

That's a big one. So that would mean over demesne limit penalties from high decadence should reduce the size of other event troops as well? You could use mercs to kill any uprisings then if you remembered to save up cash then?

Might need to split the event in two, to give the game time to recalculate so the target has his full troop count before the event troops are spawned.

Why should they even get a reduction? In either case - Decadence and Shia Uprising - they should get a penalty for continuing to not fix it. If they were then to win they get a reduction.

Code:
	immediate = {
		set_character_flag = shia_caliphate_revolt
		set_global_flag = shia_caliphate_revolt_ongoing

		decadence = -30 # Do not want to be hit with a decadence revolt as well!

If they don't want a decadence revolt to trigger also they should add:

Code:
NOT = { has_character_flag = shia_caliphate_revolt }

To the decadence trigger, or if they want it to occassionally happen only add it into the MTTH of that event. Reducing decadence because of a religious uprising seems quite strange to say the least.

The revolts are a result of a realm that could be failing and starting to fall apart. So instead of weakening the realm further, the mechanics here strengthen the realm to allow them to survive. That in of itself seems broken.

Thanks. It's been an issue since at least TOG, and I'm happy to see that's it's finally fixed.
