Thanks for the patch :) Will have to test.

Though, to be honest, I'm not sure if I like the new truce-breaking penalty. I understand reasons behind it, but as of now, declaring war first sounds almost like a shenanigan – not only you have tactical advantage, but also the peace treaty can't be too harsh on you (at worst, you can lose some prestige, some gold & some claim) & foe will now face major penalties if he tries to get his revenge.

Truce only binds the attacker. Defender can do what they wish. Been like that since day 1 I think.

- Sieging will siege back your own holdings first
[...]
- The Prestige cost for breaking a truce is now much harsher; 50% of current Prestige + 200.

[...]
- Trade Posts dont give warscore unless the war is using an Embargo or Sieze Trade Post CB
[...]
- The republican CB to seize a whole coastal county is now range dependent
- The republican CB to seize a coastal city now requires the Patrician to have a trade post there already
[...]
- AI: Less willing to launch embargo wars in general, especially against rulers they like
- AI: Less willing to accept requests to embargo on opinion alone
- AI: Will now factor in strength of target when deciding on whether to accept a request to embargo
[...]
Thank you for those design changes. I especially like the prestige hit. The downside is, that this change is not so effective due to being able to send a couple of assassins - I'd just file that expense under warchest. Except you changed that too.

That's not going to work so well anymore. I just checked; after the patch, you can only declare Holy War on enemies that border your realm.
Hmm... I think this is silly!
First: I'm playing as King of Georgia, Byz Emp conquerred azerbaidjan so i have no border with any islam ruler and can't declare any Holy War :( (Not checked this in game, just read it here)
Second: if I would have a border with the Fatimids (lets just say i own Antioch as King of Georgia), I can declare war for Sicily (if the Fatimids hold it) although it's not near my realm, but I can't declare war for Antioch as King of Georgia in my De Jure Realm, which is just about the same distance...
*edit* insert "if the Fatimids hold it"

Yep. Being Large Address Aware lets a 32-bit application (like CK2) use up to 4 GB of RAM.

Were the Linux and Mac versions already Large Address Aware or something? Or was it just not needed in those OSs

Windows by default splits the 4gb address space half for kernel, half for userspace. With LAA programs the kernel only keeps 1gb. On Linux 3/1 has been the default split and I assume Mac's the same.

With 64-bit kernels the kernel portion is outside the 4gb that 32-bit programs see, but Windows still requires 32-bit programs to declare themself LAA to get anything beyond 2gb.

Yes! This balances the current game pretty much the way I was hoping!
-Holy war, the main method to unhistorically eat up distant realms, is cut down to size.
-Republics will have to slow down their gobble-gobble a bit.
I will download this asap and start a new game this weekend. Yay!

I really like holy wars nerfing (no more weird "island" kingdoms) and I really like breaking truce penalty. Finaly the truce becomes something that will be respected in some way, in the end it is some kind of promise, that cant be broken without wounding somebodys honour and popularity. It will be more fair than before now.

Of course on the other hand, breaking truces in medieval times especially against pagans, heathens was quite a common thing that didnt influence diplomacy. So, maybe, against heathens it would be possible to create an action: "Ask Pope for breaking the truce agaisnt heathen without penalty" and the same with Caliphs / religion heads of other religions. It would cost prestige / piety and positive opinion about you + negative opinion about heathen would be needed + minimal religion authority of 20% for example.

Excellent balancing patch to take the Republics down a notch; as a feudal lord I may now start to have to have multiple republics in a larger realm (as I have no idea if the AI is able to maintain that many family members in court).

The Holy War nerf definitely takes blobs down a notch; no more France and HRE finding themselves in North Africa. I assume this works similarly for Muslims, so we won't see them parading up into central Europe any time soon either. I am going to miss opportunistic sniping of the Fatimids though.

The new truce breaking penalty was sorely needed. Now truces actually means something and reduce public opinion of you if broken (and not just the opinion of independent leaders of that religion, which was a laughable penalty). It looks like we can still find creative methods to get other leaders killed though and invalidate the truce. But it will slow down player blobbing, which is only good. Those of us who like to expand will find another way.

Windows by default splits the 4gb address space half for kernel, half for userspace. With LAA programs the kernel only keeps 1gb. On Linux 3/1 has been the default split and I assume Mac's the same.

32-bit Mac OS X does a 4GB/4GB split, and from Lion onwards 64-bit is the default, so there was indeed no need for it in the Mac version either!

Also, yay for a totally out of the left field patch! Nice changes to republics, holy wars and marriages. Thank you Team Sweden!

Great changes! Especially the republic nerf and the many modding support changes.

It doesn't seem to me that the bug with empire-level de jure drift has been fixed though, I refer to the fact that you can de jure drift a kingdom that is de jure part of a non existing empire into your own empire only if the relative kingdom title does not exist (which limits your options in game when playing as an emperor).
