There is no reason for sadness my friends. No reason at all.

Remember the development order for the original series of games

EU --> HoI ---> Victoria ---> CK

I still remain fully confident that in the fullness of time, Paradox will develop games that will cover the time periods Victoria and CK currently cover, and the experience in developing HoI3 will only serve to make future 19th C and Medieval titles developed by Paradox all the better.

So, rather than pining away for what might have been with a new 19th C or Medieval title being developed now, embrace the news of HoI3 being developed, because what we will likely see during the development process of HoI3 are gameplay elements that likely will find their way into future titles.

Hey, guys! I'm looking for some strategy advice on HoI3!

I've got a new panzer division coming of the production line and I'm not sure how to paint them. I recently developed the new camoflauge pattern 1943-A106 which gives me a bonus to not be detected, but my turpentine stocks are low and I'm not sure I can afford it. On the other hand, I recently canceled production on an aircraft carrier, so I've got an overstock of Gunmetal colored anti-barnacle paint that I should use up. I'm not sure which I should go with here. Is pattern 1943-A106 worth the expense or should I just make them gunmetal for a while until I can develop 1945-C987a and pull them off the front for a repaint?

Also, is any one else frustrated playing the Italians? The extra water they need to boil all their pasta is really hurting my supply chain in North Africa. I think for the next patch Paradox should implement some sort of National Culinary Decision Matrix so I can gradually shift my Italians over to bratwurst and beer like the Germans or something. I'd switch to lutefisk, but given how powerful Paradox made it, that feels a bit like cheating.

Really, HoI3 is good! It is glorious! And we know nothing about it yet!

As much as I'm grateful for any title Paradox releases, I have to say, this is a profound disappointment. We desperately need a CK2.

The same. When have I ever said I'd be disappointed with a new Paradox game? Even Rome I was more happy about! This is not a good day.

However, I am being premature, there are no screenshots yet (or are there?), and I know almost nothing about it. So in time my disappointment will either disappear or worsen.

Edit: Oh God, I just remembered the worst thing about this, more HoIers. I mean you have to admit the CKers and Victorians are the best, for one they're the largest group in the OT, followed by the EUers who aren't half bad. But we all know what HoIers are like. :wacko:

Now, a lot of players who would normally be glad (or at least not unhappy) to hear about HoI 3 being in development, will all be disappointed because they thought it might have been CK2 or Victoria 2. Every person desperately hoped for their favourite game redone, and that's bound to cause disappointment.

Aye, EUers rule supreme though.

But with 10.000 provinces to manage not everyone can be an HoI3er

The only good thing about Hoi3 is that it will generate profit for Paradox, to be invested in other more refined games. I for one sincerly hope that Paradox will milk the Hoi:ers of their money through expansions and boosters and what not, so it can be put to better use

Yep. I wouldn't have minded a Dark Ages game, or well, almost anything, really.

I love both Vic and CK, but I hoped for CK2 more, since Vic seems more perfect as it is already, it's more polished. CK is still a rough diamond in the dirt, with great potential.

Rubbish.

2nd poll about what is the new game soon to be relased, and again Vicky II won 2nd poll with clear margin. Yet still PI relasing something else.

It is really hard to comprehend what PI devs & marketing branch thinking.

Nothing against HOI family. Every part was a great fun, but for pet sake it is finally time to listen to people who voting.*

Perhaps with 3rd won poll (without HOI3). 3rd time lucky heh?

I'd love to see both ck 2 and vicky 2 but are certainly not complaining about it being HoI 3. The first HoI was the one that got me into paradox games and the second one was such a good improvement. I'm sure the third one will be great too!

I'm getting excited about this game! but it won't be out for another year or so if I got it right...

but just think what the new elements of gameplay HoI3 may develop could mean for future Medieval and 19th C games.

As I said above, this is not bad news at all, but rather a chance to see what new ideas Paradox has that could be brought to bear on future games. EU3 already pushed the development bar quite a bit, and HoI3 could do even moreso.
