Hi all!

We're now releasing the 2.6.2 patch together with improvements and fixes for the EU4-CK2 converter.

Warning: Using modding traits from 2.6.1 or earlier since the new 2.6.2 traits will break them.

2.6.2 summary

The 2.6.2 patch has been in Open Beta for a while so that we would keep the performance on a good level and we now feel ready to release it. The patch includes new event chains, game rules and bug fixes.

Save games from 2.6.1 should work fine, but as always we can't guarantee that it works 100%.

Converter changes summary

While the converter has been getting updates from time to time to account for new things added in EU4 expansions it is not always making full use of the newer features both in CK2 and EU4. The EU4 1.18 Prussia Patch adds institutions and overhauls technology penalties, again prompting the need to update the converter. We have used this as an opportunity to fix old issues and account for newer features added to the games.

Functionality has been added to adopt your EU4 game to the status of your CK2 one in matters such as dynamic provincial development, government ranks, making the CK2 heresies and religions use the new religion features of EU. Time has also been spent to fix old issues like missing flags for rebels, errors in province mappings, and missing descriptions for the converter religions.

Enjoy!

I'm sad I never managed to get a Roman court physician. Despite running centuries without one and requesting one as often as possible I never was in luck.:(

- Patricians can no longer give the "Designated Heir" honorary title to landed characters

Does that imply that landed characters can't inherit anymore in Republics
or is it only concerning the title and the regular heir could still be landed ?

If the former, is it a temporary fix for buggish behaviour since introduction of the goverment set for characters, which led to republics
turning feudal when the heir had a castle and feudal government fixed set for the character ?
If so, will we get it to work again at some point as it used to be or is it a potentially permanent design decision ?

The earlier version of the Open Beta made landed characters unable to inherit Merchant Republics. This was a fix to that change, as you could still give them the title, but it wouldn't make them your new heir.

We did this because of how bug prone the succession of Merchant Republics are. As you mentioned, there were several cases in which you would swap government, but there were also several instances of this causing issues with you getting game over (among other things). Rather than doing an extensive rewrite for a lot of code, this was deemed to be an easier fix to avoid those issues. Granted, it's not a perfect fix, but will have to do.

I see, but..

...so landed characters are now unable to inherit at all (with or without the title) or at least unable to inherit the Merchant Republic since the first Beta,
thus the disallowing to hand out the Designated Heir title to landed chars...and the fix is not necessarily a permant fix, but the best for now.
Do i understand that correctly ?

- Moved the alert for advisor titles being grantable to the "council not full" alert from the "special minor titles" alert. The alert now takes you to the Conclave council page if Conclave is enabled
Is this modable? I'd like to change this alert to point toward the council page where you can assign jobs and see stats. I never use the new council page for assigning councilors (except for advisors), as it is just annoying to need to switch to a new tab just to assign them their mission, when I can do all that from the same window.

I'm guessing we won't see an untangling of the Merchant Republic code until CK3, when they are fully integrated into the game?

It might be me, but have you implemented that featured mentioned in some Dev Diary a while back where custom imported countries from CK 2 would take the roles of countries in EU4 that do not exist, based on their capital?

ex: In my current game, the lands of portugal (including capital at lisboa) are held by the kingdom of Galicia (who, funnily, does not own the duchy of galicia itself). Will they "become" portugal or act like portugal in a imported game?

Yeah, this was added in the first open beta of 2.6.2.
While not the best solution, I think it's unlikely for us to change it back any time soon.

I think that would be the most likely scenario.
