Recently got a new laptop, and installed CK2 steam version on it. The PC came with Windows8 pre-installed. I tried launching the game, which at first didn't work. Several re-installs and verifyings integrities later, I'm able to get to the first loading screen(The one after the screen that lists your DLCs and mods.), but then the gamestops responding at different points during loading, sometimes it doesn't get past the paradox symbol, sometimes it got to calculating paths. I try to run as administrator straight from the .exe, but it's the same result eah time. I've tried uninstalling and re-install and verifying the integrity of game cache, but no luck. I've installed that directx end user runtime thing, but it says I've got a newer or equivelant version, so no install is needed. I'm sorry if this issue has already been resolved, but I haven't been able to find any solutions that work for me. If you need anymore information on this, I'l do my best to find it, but I'm not a very techy person :/ Thank you!

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\DX\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\ and run vcredist.exe
If that doesn't help, please try installing ALL of these Microsoft modules:
First: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328
Then: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
(If that doesn't do anything then http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )
Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.
IF that doesn't help, Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.
