Chapter 7
With the threat of excommunication safely taken care of, Morgan felt confident in the war for her son's claim on Denmark again. But king Svend still had some tricks left.
[SUB]Fortunately it was just a few hundreds of longbow fodder.[/SUB]
Soon after, the war was over.
Morgan's success convinced the people of Middlesex that the Bretons were there to stay.
[SUB]Go assimilation![/SUB]
In 1105 A.D., Berthildis le Fay, the eldest of Morgan's children (if only by minutes), was murdered by some Italian swine. This sent Morgan down a spiral of obsession with revenge.
[SUB]Sadly, this was never to be fulfilled.[/SUB]
With Denmark secure in Klaoda's hands, Morgan looked up from her plotting against the di Treviso scum long enough to give orders to invade Ireland. The war for Dublin was trivial, and the county, along with duchy of Meath, was granted to Morgan's grandson Bran.
[SUB]The beachhead has been established. Proceed with invasion![/SUB]
Obviously, Kildare was next on the hitlist.
[SUB]It was subjugated in no time.[/SUB]
Slowly, Morgan's mind began to snap from the constant brooding over the di Treviso murderer.
[SUB]Poor courtiers paid the price.[/SUB]
Once her son-in-law Rangvald died, she snapped completely.
[SUB]Can I have lunatic too pls?[/SUB]
Half-crazy as she was, she still managed to notice a horrible fact - Klaoda decided to abandon his Celtic heritage and declared himself a Dane. This could not be tolerated! A betrayer of one's own heritage has no right to inherit the Celtic Empire!
[SUB]I said the war for Denmark would breed trouble...[/SUB]
So Morgan disowned him.
[SUB]Eat tanistry, traitor![/SUB]
The new heir, as chosen by Morgan and agreed upon by everyone, was Morgan's grandson Jehan. Alas, once he had a son, every vassal of Morgan's decided that the baby Guimarc'h would make a better king than his father.
[SUB]Did they have DNA scanners or what?[/SUB]
Of course, the efforts in Ireland continued.
[SUB]I can haz Ulster?[/SUB]
So who got the county? An Irish guy called Niall from the neighboring county of Oriel. I wonder why?
The war was, of course, trivial again, and Morgan formed the duchy of Ulster.
[SUB]Not hard to guess what for.[/SUB]
The remaining lords of Ulster submitted to Morgan's rule willingly, seeing the benefits of united, powerful Celtic Empire. Niall Ua Néill Noígiallaich (what a name!) was declared the duke of Ulster.
[SUB]OK, not lords, lady & lord.[/SUB]
And Morgan declared herself the Queen of Wales.
[SUB]Not to be confused with Queen of Whales.[/SUB]
Morgan's inability to put the di Treviso six feet under made her feel stressed.
[SUB]77, possessed and stressed? Uh-oh.[/SUB]
