Seens last big patch effect of crown authority on leavies was dounbled. Instead on increase in increments of 10% it now increased in incriments of 20% to max of 80%.
In my opinion it make it too easy non brainer solution to allwasy increase your authority to max. Effect on your avalible levies is just too big.
If befor you some times may decrease your avalible levies pool when increasing crown authority (because drop of opininon may drop many vassals livies). So, there was choise, have good opinion on monarch and have a huge army if vassals do not figth each other, or have less army if they do or have higher crown aothority with bigger minimum levies avalible. It was interesting strategic desicion. Now.. it is mach less fun.

I undestand that moving them back will need some other adjastments, but general increase in levies size made merks mach less usefull and generally decrease game strategies. Only one bacome best in every situation.

I don't know, raising CA like that and actually using all these troops in a campaign of only medium length (so, 1-2 years) will sum up to a rather large negative opinion. I hope you like factions, plots and worse aiming at you, because your dukes will hate you. in fact, I wonder how many players do this because all they see is "trooooooops!!!", and then later complain on the forum that factions suck, and need to be nerfed...

Also, with personal levies and retinues, I hardly ever need so many soldiers to follow my plans.

PS: Your orthography made me twitch a little, to be honest ;)

That really not valid argument. I had a king with good diplomacy, (well very good, 32 I think) which had non stop war all his time. Befor hi die, he had vassals with -85 levies raised too long. and no single revolt. Just accasional creating duchy, giving gift and title, use of improve relationship and spymaster keep thinks quet.

Ahem.. 32 diplo is not "good" diplomacy, but much more "super genetically engineered mutant super power" diplomacy... having such a large positive state diplomacy opinion modifier is far from common. And using a single super-monarch as anecdotal evidence isn't quite convincing, either.

...and what is more because crown laws override other laws you can reduce levies to min to slightly offset that penalty.

But as the first response said, its pretty much asking for faction revolts if you luck into a regency.

Vassals WILL fight eachother, dispite of CA. I have my entire realm fighting eachother, even though I have Absolute CA.

That's plot triggered. With absolute CA, they can't use regular DoW against each other, just plots.

EDIT: CA is not unbalanced or anything in the game, it's just to easy to raise and mantain, in my opinion. It should be as it is, just that factions like HRE should never be able to raise it.

Yeah, but what's the point of raising CA to Absolute when vassals can still fight eachother ?

I know plots aren't affected by CA, but seeing half your realm at war with ACA is just silly.

I think this matter can aproached with two things in mind: first, that CA, overall, is bullshit. It's a mechanic created to emulate the legalisation of regal power in the medieval era and it fails miserably at that. Second, that plots that breach CA are either a cheap way for the player to go beyond count level when playing lesser nobles or they are simply a bug.

I think absolute CA should disallow heirs to inherit more than what their Father/Mother (Regular/Matri-marriage) had, and other part goes to second son or back to the king. Absolute IMO should completely disallow super-dukes.

That is going too far. Inheritance snowballs were always a risk (hi Burgundy!).

Factions flatly ignoring CA, the 'i have lands outside your de-jure lands, i can start any war I like' nonsense, and the 'I inherited a kingdom, am no longer your vassal and am taking this country with me' irritation all make 'crown authority' as a concept a joke.

Of course, the biggest is not being able to touch vassal wars, even when it blocks your succession laws, or affects people you care about. 'Yes my lord, you can smack around the HRE and the ERE, but you aren't allowed to stop the count of poodunk and the duke of wasisname fighting, and regrettably we can't change succession laws until they stop'. Did paradox miss all the references to stopping private wars in their research?

I don't think it's going too far. That was the case historically. That is, if one could be made: CA is a totally random aspect, created for balance purposes more than anything, so to be more precise, there should be no CA, only a bunch of laws and the on/off switch on them.
