Cross play version not working

I have stellaris on steam and have opted in for the test cross play beta 2.2.3(1960)

My brother has gog version which seems to be that exact version. It says I have wrong version when he tries joining my game.

Did some further testing.

In his GOG version his server list shows 2.2.3()

my server list shows 2.2.3(1960)

Even those when we load the game the text on the bottom is 2.2.3(1960) for both of us. Why is that?
