Something came up today in my GC and I want to know if anyone has the same problem. It seems that this part of the event Duo plorantes saecula Croatiae:

trigger = {
owned = { province = 364 country = TUR } # Bosnia
}

doesn't work, because that event happened with Croatia owning Bosnia, and Turkey nowhere in sight.

Anyone?

OK, I found a solution, instead country = TUR it should be data = TUR

And now something completely different:

#Battle of Sisak#

trigger = {

owned = { province = 364 data = TUR } # Bosnia
war = { country = CRO country = TUR }

desc = "The fort of Sisak was sited directly on the path of all Ottoman intrusions into Croatia and deeper into Slovenia and Austria. Hasan-pasha, the commander of the Bihac Sanjak tried to take it in 1591 and 1592, but without success. In the June of the 1593 he laid siege to Sisak with an army of almost 40,000 men, in an effort to take the city. The city was surrounded, but help arrived on the July the 22nd and crushed the Ottoman army, killing over 10,000 Turks, including Hasan-pasha himself. The battle marked the turning point in the Ottoman conquests in the Balkans and Central Europe, and the start of the decline of the Ottoman power in Europe. Croatia was now able to start reclaiming lands lost in the Ottoman wars, Bosnia and Dubrovnik (Ragusa)."

I have all my uskok events tested, and have modified and tested most of Kelvin's events. I feel his leaders are largely overpowered, and certainly oppose them going into the EEP until their deathdates match everyone else in the EEP (i.e., when they died in battle). I am not sure I agree with his philosophy on monarchs, I'd rather use the Hapsburg monarchs in the same way that Hungary and Bohemia do.

I'd like to see something come of Hogar's suggestions, but I'm basically ignorant.

The events are posted at the start of the thread. No changes since then.

I will put together a monarchs file that pretty much uses the Hungarian monarchs. I don't really like Kelvin's approach (which is to use the banovi (sp?), the King's representative (viceroy?) rather than the kings themselves). It isn't used for other countries.

But some countries do have alternative dynasties, even in Paradox original. Perhaps if Croatia in some way got more independent thay should have a possibility to get them as normal rulers. But, I wont do it, and you wont, so the Hungarian option is fine with me.
I look into the events here then.

As far as I know, no country has the governor/viceroy of a foreign power as the monarch.

OK, you have a point there, I agree.
Just read through your events, they are all good, the first ones ought to get in as well. In the uskok events I think the options for Venice are unbalanced:

action_a ={
name = "Attack Croatia"
command = { type = relation which = TUR value = 50 }
command = { type = relation which = CRO value = -200 }
command = { type = relation which = SAV value = 30 }
command = { type = relation which = FRA value = 30 }
command = { type = relation which = SPA value = -30 }
command = { type = relation which = NAP value = -30 }
command = { type = relation which = MAN value = -30 }
command = { type = casusbelli which = CRO value = 36 }
command = { type = stability value = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = 368 } #Senj is in Istria Province
command = { type = revolt which = 368 }
}
action_b ={
name = "Increase Escorts"
command = { type = relation which = TUR value = -200 }
command = { type = relation which = CRO value = 50 }
command = { type = trade value = -1000 }
command = { type = treasury value = -100 } #Not enough to bankrupt them
command = { type = inflation value = 5 } #bad for trade
command = { type = merchants value = -2 } #can this go negative??
command = { type = sleepevent which = 1861817 }
}
}
In b it seems they both have to take the effects of increasing escorts AND lose trade. The help, some 500d in worth does not make it a good alternative either, you would have to declare war to get it as well. Perhaps the trade -1000 ought to be in a seperate 'do nothing' option.

I found this, seems a nice idea, as an suggestion to Croatian monarch if they get more independent:
b) To use "Sabor" aka parliament

Example:
Sabor, 1400-1430
Sabor, 1430-1460
etc...
And the generic leaders are nice, as you have written. To bad we don't have a nice list of leaders that die in time and are not too good in life :D

We don't do that for Hungary, Naples, Bohemia, and anyone else you care to name. Unless those all get reworked I really think the Hapsburgs are the right answer.

How about increasing the stability hit to -2 in option A to balance the event. Possibly get rid of the inflation? I do think it ought to cost them money and trade though.

My thoughts on the Uskok war.

Why are all these provinces included as triggers? What was the historical situation? Would it make sense if only Steiermark was owned by Austria and then Venice got into war with them over some pirates in the, for example, Ottoman held coast. Perhaps only Istria and Dalmatia should be triggers.
You seem to be undecided on the neighbour trigger. I think it should stay if you keep all the provinces as trigger, otherwise go since Venice can attack via the sea.
How about increasing the stability hit to -2 in option A to balance the event. Possibly get rid of the inflation? I do think it ought to cost them money and trade though.
Would be better. Since the pirates bothered them before the war, it could cost some trade in option A as well, like 100-200.

I see a possible exploit here. As Venice, you could take option A in "Uskok Piracy", as it should still seem better than B, and then not go to war, just to avoid the unpleasanties.
We could add a flag: raid_uskok, or whatever, in option A "Uskok Piracy" that is cleared in the "Protestant Aid", that mean war. If within some time after the "Uskok Piracy" the flag is still set (Venice never attacked), an event with more or less the same things as in "Uskok Piracy" option B should fire, since Venice haven't done anything about the pirates.

To make the "Protestant Aid" only arrive when option A is chosen in "Uskok Pirates" the events can set flags HAB_uskoks, HUN_uskoks or CRO_uskoks. "Protestant Aid" would then have another trigger and not come in another (and they are pretty frequent) war between Venice and those nations. Minor thing but would be disturbing.

Code:
[COLOR=SKYBLUE]
trigger = {
			OR = {
				AND = {#HAB sequence
					flag = HAB_uskok
                                              war   = { country = VEN country = HAB }
					}
				AND = {#CRO sequence
					flag = CRO_uskok
                                              war   = { country = VEN country = CRO }
					}
				AND = {#HUN sequence
					flag = HUN_uskok
                                              war   = { country = VEN country = HUN }
					}
			}
		}

Very good ideas. I like slamming them if they don't go to war. Nice.

The historical situation (in EU terms) is
Venice owns Veneto, Istria, Dalmatia. HAB (or possibly whoever we're using for Styria) owns Steiermark and Krain. the Ottomans own Bosnia and Croatia (well you can argue about Croatia). The problem is the border doesn't run along any of these provinces, Sejm is in Istria province, and was owned by Austria. In the war Venice invaded by land and attacked into Carniola rather than along the coast further south.

I wanted a pretty open trigger, but one that fails if the target country isn't in istria/dalmatia or a border province. In my formulation that means they own Sejm.

We don't need three seperate flags - one will do the job. I will make the suggested changes and post a new version.

Croatian Monarchs

Here it is, pretty much from the Hungarian file. I've fixed the numbers where they are different from the Austrian and Hungarian (Charles, Francis (Francis I wasn't King of Croatia, Maria Theresa was queen, Vlasilav). I couldn't find free IDs, but I suppose I could use Kelvin's. [Also I translated them into English, as I wasn't going to leave them in Magyar! If some kind soul could get me the Croatian names that would be great.] As noted below names are now in what I can only assume is Croatian. If someone could check I would really appreciate it.

edit: Changed to presumed Croatian names. 'Zigmund' is supposed the upward turned curved accent on it, but it's beyond me to reproduce that, so it'll have to be in bastardized Anglo-croatian. Well assuming that's what it really is.

I was planning on leaving the event trigger in place. Otherwise you're right.

The monarchs seems nice. When they are monarchs in many countries, do they have the same stats in all of them?
Regarding ressetling the uskoks, shouldn't some province have lowered manpower as well, since warlike people are moved from there? Dont know how this is done in the best way, perhaps by having an event for VEN that gives them manpower -1 in Dalmatia and Istria. It's not fool-proof, if they don't own them for instance, but any nation loosing this might also get wrong.
