Critical error

Never played with VIP before. I have the Mac version of VIP:R, with VIPR03Mac and VIPR03Hotfix1 manually installed.

Game crashes on loading the VIP scenario with this error (paraphrased):

"Critical error - Unable to load scenarios/VIPscen/events/VIP_flavor/VIP_flavor_Province_Owner.txt"

I looked in that folder. The only files are VIP_flavor_Sweden, VIP_flavor_Denmark, and VIP_flavor_Scandinavia. A search for VIP_flavor in Spotlight yield only those three files with that prefix.

Any ideas? I already tried re-downloading VIP03Mac, recopying that folder. Nothing changed.

I think you might have only manually installed the hotfix, and not 0.3 first. It should go 0.3 and then hotfix 1.

My VIP03Mac zip file only had those three files in its /VIP_flavor/ folder.

Could I really have been so stupid as to make the same mistake twice??

Okay, I have no idea what happened, but it looks like everything was installed properly except for that folder. At least, I hope so. The game runs now, but I'm a little worried that I didn't install something properly.

This is a definite downside to owning a Mac.

So long as it says VIP:R 0.301 when selecting a game, that is the correctly installed scenario (unless, of course, you have installed the hotfix first).
