A Map of the First Confederate Civil War
[Circa 2998]

Blue: Terran Confederation
Red: Orion League
Grey: Neutral

It is the year 2998, and galactic civilization stands on the brink of collapse. Led by the charismatic politician Juan Lebedev, a coalition of periphery states known as the ORION LEAGUE have joined together in declaring their independence from the TERRAN CONFEDERATION.

In the face of this rebellion, the Confederation places its hopes in newly-elected President Morgan Afolayan and the good men and women of the CONFEDERATE SPACE COMMAND, charged with returning the defiant outer rim to Earth's control. As darkness falls across the galaxy, ships speed forth from Earth for the first great battle in nearly five hundred years...

Introduction

Greetings fellow travelers, I am Tristanxh, some of you might know me for my previous pitiable attempt at an After Action Report or for the less-than-successful ventures of mine elsewhere in the community. Despite these failures I am back once more with what I hope will be a fresh-taste of something old.

For those of you unaware, Crisis of the Confederation is a Crusader Kings II mod set in the distant future of science-fiction, taking on inspiration from various other science-fiction universes including Fading Suns, Dune, Warhammer 40,000, Battletech, and the Foundation series. Overall the mod is focused around the fall of modern democracy and the rise of neo-feudalism, so if you're interested in becoming the God-Emperor of Mankind, this mod may be for you.

The majority of this After Action Report shall be focused around the short-stories of individuals and their eventual demise rather than the overall state of the Confederation or the galaxy, perhaps there will be a few times wherein I'll continue the same story for a few decades or even decide to take the reigns of the once mighty Confederation, however until that day comes, my focus shall be solely on the bleak future of single mortal lives rather than even the lives of great houses or petty nations.

Also please do note that I'm not overly fond of taking screenshots, and these stories will be fairly image lacking- however, I do intend on filling them out in quite a bit of text detail, whether or not this is for the better or worse is yet to be seen, so please do feel free to comment on what aspects of this narrative that you enjoy and which ones you despise or otherwise hold in distaste.

The Flames of Civilization: Welcome Home, Ma'am!

Y5zmHlN.jpg

Captain Bin Kataro stood on the bridge of the Destroyer, C.S.S. Bastille, staring out of the view port at the fanciful dancing mirage of colors that have been surrounding his ship for the past few weeks as they travel between jump gates. Counter-Admiral Yun Kato sits idly behind him as she awaits the approaching exit from warped space. The destroyer begins to shake violently as the navigation officer turns toward Captain Kataro, "Sir, we're approaching the Iserlohn jump gate. Exiting warped space in three..."

"Two..."

"One..."

"Cleared," he reports as the colors dissipate from around the vessel, seeming to fade away into the vacuum of space. The ships accompanying the Bastille exit from the colossal ring of steel and circuits known as a 'jump gate' in a series of bright flashes of light.

Counter-Admiral Kato smiles at the sight of the Iserlohn system, finely able to return 'home' after months spent at the decrepit Naval Station on FN-331. In front of them lays Iserlohn Fortress, a sprawling labyrinth of interconnected module units and subsections, all of which are centered around a rotating docking port, more commonly called a harbor due to its immense size, capable of holding anything from the largest cruisers in the galaxy to the smallest bombers in the sector.

As the Bastille and its escorts slowly maneuver into formation as they approach the citadel's port, the Counter-Admiral is reminded of its magnitude, the various industrial and residential units lining the cylindrical walls of the harbor. The station's population of a hundred-thousand, displaced across the six square kilometer station, grinding away and toiling endlessly on the edge of known space.

The Bastille suddenly jerks to a screeching halt as the mooring lines anchor in. Captain Kataro turns to Counter-Admiral Kato and smiles, "Allow me to be the first to say, 'welcome home', ma'am."

I have yet to try this mod, though now I want to. Unfortunately Stellaris is not CK2 IN SPACE, but I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.
