Crimean War CTD

Using a 2.5g P4 w/512megs of Ram running WinXP using 1.03b with VIP

Playing as the Netherlands, in July 1853 the Crimean War event fires and I CTD shortly thereafter(within the month.)

I have saved and reloaded many times and it CTD's everytime, although the exact day varies. I tried saving every few days, which got me to July 29 but everytime I load from July 29 it CTDs on the 30th. I tried reloading the autosave from July 1 and sleeping the Crimean War event (2513) but it didn't help. I have 7 different save points in July 1853 but the CTD reproduces in all of them.

I have searched the forums for a Crimean War bug but none of threads seemed relevant. This is driving me crazy. :wacko: Any help would be dearly appreciated.

Is there a strange political setup--like is France Britain's satellite or something? Also, check the game long and find the last event recorded before the CTD and see if its the same each time.

I have gotten this bug now three times as well, no weird political setups, using VIP 0.3 with darkrenowns uofficial patch. My current game as Prussia is now on hold as everytime the Crimean war happens the game crashes.

Edit: Nevermind, this is a problem with the Central American Coalition events written for VIP 0.3

The most likely cause is that one of the countries that gets the Crimean War events is allied to Russia and then chooses to go to war. Any number of VIC events cause this to happen...

Thanks for the responses. I thought the problem had to do with the Crimean War screwing up alliances, but after some checking I think BennyB was right about it being the Central American Coalition event. Once I erased that event it seemed to run stable. Thanks again for the assisstance, guys. I would have hated to lose this game.
