I'm actually legit hoping for little trophies and souvenirs in the captains quarters, a la Mass Effect (and plenty of other games).

I can't put my finger on why exactly, but I really enjoy games where as a side effect of the main game you make your 'home' change and evolve. My favorite example is Monteriggioni in AC2, where as you come back from your murder sprees you can sink your money into practical upgrades and swanky renaissance art. Adds another feeling of accomplishment.

I really liked X-Wing: Alliance's home area. It had story based emails, would change based on the ship you were stationed on, and you'd get trophies from missions, name plates from destroyed ships, a piece of an experimental T.I.E. Fighter, a pirate flag, a drink chit, etc., etc., etc.
