Okay... this will be a bit of an awkward topic.
But we are getting the option to farm, process, eat and what have you entire species in Stellaris. I know that C:S is not a PDS game but I think there is a lesson to be learnt here. If you can twist something, just do it.

The incineration plants are producing electricity by burning garbage.
I am not saying the dead people are garbage but hey, basically, is the same process. You use people as fuel (and one very efficient fuel, since... fat) to spin the turbines and eventually produce electricity. I feel it's a bit of a waste, having huge cities with ~200 deaths a week and all that potential energy goes to nowhere. Just smoke. Give it a thought maybe? I mean, it's just a game, right?

Funny thing I knew it was the case but I did an internet search to get backup info. The second link in the search went to the blaze and while the article was just straight and informative the comments were all moral outrage.

Indeed true, however the energy used to cremate a person does still mean a lot of heat is released. A couple of schemes in the UK have been tried where the heat from the fuel has been used to either spin turbines or heat water (through a heat exchanger) for a swimming pool.
Yes, but that is just cutting back on waste, not providing a positive energy outcome. It is a simple fact that you must put more energy in than comes out to cremate a human body.

Ah... alright, now I see. Thanks for the clarification @Promethian
Now please pardon me, I need to adjust my world domination plans a bit using this newly found knowledge.

Incorrect. It takes a lot of energy to properly cremate someone. More than the body gives off. https://www.quora.com/How-much-energy-is-required-for-a-human-cremation

thats just the case if you care about the dignity of a dead body. there are ways to harvest energie from corpses, you could well burn them like wood, after they lost water... or make biogas out of them.

you can burn bodys with a net energie gain, but you dont want to, you want to burn bodys fast and clean so you can give the ashes to the family...

but i dont realy wanna explore this dark thoughts deeper, thats way to dark for a city sim game.
