Creating title, and gain indipendence

Playing as Count of Messina, I manage to conquer all the lands required to become Duke of Sicily, and 66% of the provinces to be Duke of Tunis and Duke of Kairouan.

At the end of the conquest war, I am on a negative status of money: before I can collect 100 pounds to create the Duchy title of Sicily, my liege create the King title of NAPL for himself. Then, some time later, I create the SICI (duke) title for me, and become indipendent.

Wasn't the tiltle of King of Naples buggy? Or am I compltely lost?

It isn't a buggy title.

There are two possibilities:
1) Bug
2) Other

Sometimes titles seem to seperate automaticly from each other, though you should stay as your king's vassal when you get a duchy.
