Looking at recent threads I see people stating that certain ways to play the game do not work, or at least are sub-optimal. Fortresses do not work, purging population does not help, etc.
So I was thinking that maybe by changing the current models in Stellaris (ethos, government type, and race traits) and using the new models (traditions and ascension perks), new ways to play could be achieved. Here is a (bad) example that could perhaps be improved to achieve a viable outcome.
Swiss Fortress
Ethos: Pacifist grants 50% lower costs in maintaining fortresses.
Government: Moral Democracy makes first fortress in system have no maintenance.
Race Traits: +2% happiness per fortress in system.
Traditions: Fortress tradition unlocks more and more powerful fortresses with top-level weapons.
Ascension Perks: Turn fortresses into worlds, with populations.
(The ethos and government perks would be amongst other things - I am not suggesting that pacifist only has that bonus)
The idea of this method of play would be to make it a really painful process to invade this Empire, ensuring that it is left alone most of the time.
With purgers, you could have a race-trait that has x% chance of replacing the purged POP with your own (you have eaten the POP, causing surge in your population creating new POP). And there seem to be new traditions in the pipeline for pure empires.
So what about coming up with some new (hopefully viable) play-styles using these 5 models, everyone?
