Or get rid of "schwitz" culture and give switzerland a dual french/german culture, and one french + one german province.

hawaiian and canary are quite often used, especially canary, since they are only on the Canary Islands and it already starts every scenario as colonized by iberians.

swiss is a "collection" of german,italian and france people who where unhappy in their countrys and formed swiss in the alps...

Uhm... I got to say something against it being dutchspeaking. But since I've hat to stdy this kinda stuff for my dutch exam I must say he's kinda right: yes the dutch is deriviated from german. But our culture is totally different. So I can't agree with you.
BTW: why is their no flemish culture in the game?

I made the dutch provinces (Holl,Friesen,Zeeland,Geldere) to the "Deutsch-Flämisch" Culture and the (later) belgien provinces to Wallonisch
than i whant that when Holland declare indipendece all provinces chould chang to dutch culture

Being Belgian, this must be damned biased, but trust me. German and Dutch and Belgian are different cultures! Really! The Germans (NOT all) are serious and non-affectionate in public, with grey faces. The Dutch (NOT all) have this funny accent (no offence) that makes the R like English. They are also subject to most Belgian jokes, but that's OK because it goes both ways. The Belgians are.... Well they're.... oh god. I don't want to be derogatory, especially to myself, but its a bit sad that we are not as famous as, say, the Netherlands, or Germany, but we got great compromise: waffels, mussels, and "french" (my ass) fries. As well as the NATO to have a HQ in Brussels, despite it being an unfortunate linguistic walloon island in a flemish sea. I just wish we had girls like in South Sweden!

You can rewrite existing cultures to create new ones, though note that in events files you still need to use the old name.
Most people, if they're only going to do one culture, use canary, as it's the only well-known one that does not ever actually appear in game (it's for the Canary Islands, but except in Fantasia the Canary Islands are already Iberian due to Spanish colony there in all scenarios.) Natives in various unsettled parts of the world (like the west coast of North America) are also often cannibalized.
As for cannibalizing Swiss - the Swiss thing was done because it's sort of a hybrid of French, German, and Italian. Giving it any of those three made it too easy to conquer for one or more major powers (Prussia, Austria, France, Venice, Genoa, Savoy being the usual suspects). So it was left seperate for gameplay reasons, and also because giving it any of those would not represent the fact that the swiss provinces don't actually have a majority culture unless you consider them all mixed together.
As for dutch - I'm not sure why dutch and flemish were not seperated (not being an expert in such things), nor am I sure why the four Celtic countries (Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Brittany) also were not seperated in some form or other (whether into two, three, or four groups), since their cultures had diverged a lot even by 1400. It may have been a design thing, to prevent having too-small cultures, but I personally would have preferred to see them broken up. Ditto Spanish/Portuguese/Catalan. Most of the rest of the cutures seem - at least to the undeucated observer - to align closely with what might be thought of as nationalities/cultures today.
In the Celtic case, I'd like to see it broken up because of gameplay reasons: England gets the Celtic cuture in the Act of Union, although it *should* only get the culture for Scotland. Unfortunately since it's all one group, they get Ireland and Brittany as well, both of which are extremely historically inaccurate. And France, on the other side of the coin, never does get the culture for Brittany, even though it probably should since it's all core provinces, and historically part of France since at least 1500. It's more a part of France than Scotland is of England. But giving either one the existing culture would give them the area the other country should have, as well as giving them Ireland, which *neither* should have. As for Wales, it gets changed by event early on anyways, so it could temporarily be in any of those three groups or in a fourth one by itself, depending on the actual language/culture background.

I don't get why so many wants to re-use the Swiss culture. It's not like there are few cultures out there if you really need some... Look to uninhabited areas of the Americas and Africa -- plenty of non-used cultures there.

London was chosen as the capital because of it had the infrastructure and population to handle the needs of a Government of ALL the British Isles.
The events for the Act of Union in EU2 really should have been given to Scotland - and England have a reactionary event to it...rather than the other way about because thats how it was in real life.
